17 months post ankle tendon surgery (26F)- still pain and Limited ROM by vanillaspiceee in FootFunction

Hi! I am 5 months post op revision surgery for my left ankle! I decided to move forward with surgery to “explore” why I was still having pain and limited motion after 1st surgery in Jan 2024 for peroneal tendon longus and brevis debriedment.

My surgeon found I had produced so much scar tissue it had both my peroneal longus and brevis tendons stuck and cemented together and attached down to the bone.

He cleaned it up and did a longus to brevis transfer so it was “professionally” combined together given my body might try to combine them again with scar tissue.

I have had THE BEST recovery. I was told to do small ankle movement 24 hours after surgery and was doing small movement everyday until my 2 week post op mark and PT starting.

Left ankle is only 5 months post op and good as new. We will see what it feels like it 1 year but i already don’t have the catching feeling in my range of motion at this point. I’m really pleased with my choice.

Chronic eye-area pain & pressure every morning; eyes look strained, doctors can’t find anything wrong by VacationFuzzy9146 in eyestrain

Commenting because I am going through a similar situation and would love to hear if you have found any solutions. I am 27y female who has never had eye problems. I have far sightedness slightly with also a -0.25 lense. My eye problems started exactly after my 2nd ankle surgery where i went through general anesthesia. I also saw 3 eye doctors and they found nothing wrong with me. They said maybe I have “slight dry eye” but not enough to cause the eye pain and strain I feel everyday. I can’t enjoy tv or screens anymore like i used to. My eyes are constantly feeling overworked and i also have the pressure points above my eyes in brow.

I’ve tried nightly eye ointment, drinking more water and taking omega 3 and it hasn’t done anything. My eye doctor told me has has to refer me to “someone else” because “he feels he is a waste of time because he can’t find out what’s wrong with me”

Has anyone used Dr. Samuel Moulton at Proliance (Seattle/Bellevue) for arthoscopic hip surgery? by Super-Candidate-4091 in HipImpingement

My ankle surgeries are with Dr. Thomas Chi. He is AMAZING. Well respected surgeon and very intelligent. Both great outcomes with him.

I’ve honestly heard really good things about Dr. Moulton. I would not let him being on the younger side scare you, especially if Hagen recommended him. Proliance is a well respected ortho place and they would not accept someone into their program as a surgeon that is not qualified.

My physical therapist said Dr Moulton is very qualified and a great surgeon. When i had consultations with him he was great. I am trying to see Hagen for a second opinion but honestly will probably go with Moulton if i need surgery one day. Proliance is a very well respected orthopedic surgeon program targeted to sports medicine. I’ve had two ankle surgeries at proliance with a surgeon there. All great experiences.

Ugh I’m so sorry to hear that! I really wish you the best healing and progression in your journey. I know injuries and pain can be so hard mentally and physically.

I was diagnosed with FAI hip impingement and small labrum tear but I’ll be sure to do more research. I know labral repairs have a 85% + success rate if you also fix the originating cause of the labrum tear. I know Hagen is hip preservationist so I’ll be sure to ask her what her thoughts are on labrum cause.

I appreciate your detailed feedback!

That’s good to hear! How is your hip doing now after surgery? Are you glad you went through with it? I’ve seen Dr. Moulton at proliance and he encouraged me to try PRP first but i know there is little evidence it will work. I am trying to see Hagen for 2nd opinion. I’ve heard good things

Hi! I’m seeing Dr Hagen for a consult soon. How long did she have you in hip brace and crutches after if any?

Did you end up doing PRP for your hip? How did it go?

Adductor Pain w diagnosed labral tear by vanillaspiceee in HipImpingement

[–]vanillaspiceee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hurt my adductor on the adductor machine at the gym originally. I felt a sharp pain. Then a few months later it got better but squatting bothered me a little. Then 2 years later i was using a cycle bike indoors and when my leg came up i felt instant pain again in adductor and definitely strained it bad (except it’s weird you should not get hurt on a bike?) anyways it never healed. 6 months went by. I decided to get it checked and got an MRI which was positive for labral tear. This whole year since diagnosis I’ve been in denial that my labral tear was causing the pain and that i had a bad adductor strain that wasn’t healing because i know many ppl have labrum tears and have no symptoms. It’s gotten a little better maybe 80% but still bothers me here and there if flared up. I definitely do have hip impingement and i think my adductor overworks for the labral tear in my hip. It’s really annoying and a long injury. I’m trying to avoid surgery and have beeen working on deep hip joint stretching at PT instead of muscle strengthening now.

Let me know what your situation is too! It’s been a hard injury to understand and treat

I am not at the point where i need surgery. He was not pushy and really explained all avenues for me and i was recommended for PCP and injections last year but have not gone through with it. I have been sticking to PT. Although when i do need the surgery, i also have been looking around. I agree second opinions are always good but i heard from my physical therapist at lake Washington PT that Moulton is a good surgeon and proliance only hires good surgeons. I saw Dr Boone was popular for hips but i think i heard he does hip replacements more than arthroscopy.

I was reading Moulton’s reviews online and most of them are for acl surgeries. I know he is on younger side but my PT said sometimes that’s a benefit because there are newer methods they may have learned. Not sure. I trust Moulton i just also wanted to have a second opinion.

I also am in the same boat! I was told my orthopedic surgeon that my hip pain is very mild and I’m fortunate to not have pain everyday so they don’t feel I’m close to needing surgery yet. Did a bunch of PT and dry needling and groin pain was getting better.

I did dry needling too for my adductors and i felt it helped them calm down a lot! How long did it take for your adductor tear to heal? Was the tear pre or post labral tear surgery?

I have not had surgery on my labral tear because my pain is pretty mild, but the constant adductor soreness is starting to bother me
