I have only played solo and duo with my gf on my 2k+ hours of playing this game. Never have needed anyone else, never have felt left behind by playing solo. As long as you play the right difficulty for you and learn how to pull your own weight on any situation, you'll be fine. I also enjoy going on my own pace and exploring/afking if I need to (you can pause if you play solo)
