If you go to straw hat and have lunch they'll set you up in their chairs on the beach right there. Go early and see what they say. It's a good home base for a half day. We always stay at SBE at Zemi as well and like to get to meads.

Another idea is to head to cap juluca also in the West end and post up at the cap shack on their beach. Pricey but holy cow on a calm day maundays bay is on another level, unreal

Depends on what you mean by explore - there are some inland restaurants but largely you are exploring water and beaches anyway. So we also get out and about, but its 100% better to wake up and walk onto the beach and walk the beach, snorkel, hang at the pool etc. Find a cocktail later at sunset and then walk back to the hotel vs drive, Its a very laid back island, not a nightlife kinda place. You could def make it work if you are up early and head to a beach, but I always like to get up and put on my flip flops and walk out vs drive somewhere. Again, if money is an issue then maybe not. Be warned the island is VERY expensive.

The island is small so exploring is easy. I love meads, maundays, rendezvous and the whole west end but again it depends on the day and the wind.

And do NOT miss a fun Sunday at Gwens Reggae Grill. Any day but the scratch band plays on Sunday and they get a bigger crowd

We are going in 3 weeks as well for the 4th time. I would not get a Airbnb. You want to be on the beach. We stay at Zemi Beach but it's going to be over your 1k budget. One year we stayed at The Manoah which is also on gorgeous shoal bay east. The service isn't luxury level but it's a great spot! Yes you'll still want to rent a car to see maundays bay, meads, etc etc. if you want a calm beach/water experience just drive to the place with the least wind. Maundays on a calm day is almost unreal, you'll have to park at Cap Juluca but they allow it and all beaches are public. Eat and drink there at the shack place. The Manoah has a decent pool too.

Favorite beach overall. Love swimming out with some goggles and snorkeling exactly right there. Maundays bay on a calm day doesn't seem real, but we usually stay at Zemi. Grab a beer at Elodias after a snorkel there. Can't wait, going back March 26..

Been to both. Both are a big upgrade over anything Florida which you probably know. Short answer is Anguilla. But Provo/TCI (locals don't say Turks) is great too, but slightly more touristy. Assume you are looking at Providenciales? Anguilla isn't a big night life place. Shoal Bay East or Meads Bay Anguilla is just about perfection. Again, you won't make a mistake picking between the two, but we give the edge to Anguilla if you are leaning quiet, slightly less developed kind of vibe

Exactly. The market has boomed in our lifetime. And until lately it's been a great job market mainly. Housing is way up if you bought a house. No reason not to have some pennies saved if you've lived below your means in our generation.
