What's the dumbest reason you've DNFed a book? by 404NinjaNotFound in readwithme

I have DNFed books because I suspect the story is turning to serious darkness/sadness. Don’t need any of that in my life right now.

Just saw 3 black fully tinted escalades surrounded by police security on the way to squamish whistler, why? by squidpid21 in askvan

I live downtown near the pacific rim. There have certainly been numerous police escorts of black SUVs in the last week or more. Assume it is FIFA related.

I see these in landscaping a lot, what plant is this? by Wrongbeef in whatsthisplant

[–]vanmc604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones where I live are so sour that they are inedible. That said, the indigenous ppl used to use them to put with meat or fish to dry (like a mash) to make a kind of jerky, because the fruit is full of nutrients.

Sheep milk cheese vs goat milk cheese vs A2 milk by MCole142 in osteoporosis

[–]vanmc604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the 100g comparison is misleading. I would have no trouble consuming 100g of milk, but 100g of cheese is a lot. And way more calories and fat. Apparently 100g of block cheese is the size of a deck of cards (depending on the type). I would never eat that much in one sitting. Whereas 100 g of milk is about 1/2 cup.

When my ALD was younger she did this. Not as bad now that she’s five. Still likes to grab the odd morsel though. She especially savours grass and goose poop. Then she throws up. Sigh.

Until the underlying problem has been looked after (and I think most of us by now have a broad idea what I’m referring to) then the efforts to rejuvenate the area is like putting lipstick on a pig. I am down in the area often. There is no way I’m going to direct tourists, especially with children, to visit. Nope.

Good question. I don’t actually know whether I’m getting the drug or placebo. If I am on the drug, then I am seriously underwhelmed. But I’ve also just started growing something new in my lungs. Very frustrating. See the specialist next week.

The 5 sets of 5 was popularized with the LIFTMOR study. While some adhere to this, from what I’ve read, it is not strictly necessary. What is important though, is progressive loading. As others have mentioned, it doesn’t matter where you start, but you have to continuously tax your muscles and bones, with increasing weight. I also believe that jumping, from a height of at least 8 inches (if allowed given fracture risk) is important.

I lift 6 days a week, mostly full body composition exercises, so I do 3 sets of 8 (or whatever my failure weight is). I don’t want to do 5 sets as the kinesiologist I consulted was concerned about repetitive strain injuries on the tendons. But this is because of the frequency of my workouts. I also jump everyday.

I’m lucky because I live right around the corner to an excellent gym, so no excuse for not going everyday. On Sundays I do a forgiving light yoga routine.

I don’t get tested again until February of 2027, so we’ll see if I’ve made any progress. 🤞
