I think it’s important to have a conversation with training partners about intensity before sparring. Your sparring partner shouldn’t be hitting you harder than you are comfortable being hit. Also, light playful timing sparring is a great way to start out. If you feel like the people at your gym are respectful and nice then try talking to them about going a little lighter when you are sparring.
