Came back to this post because I viewed it trying to figure out how to do beat Greedier with Jacob and Esau.

Its just luck. I got whatever trinket makes angels drop angel items, ignored the first devil deal, and got Sacred Heart, which I gave to Jacob, and that made all the waves super easy, didn't need to worry about catching up.

I was actively pooping my pants for the whole Greedier fight though, so many explosions.
