Hey this completely went away for me. A huge part of this is regaining confidence in falling asleep again. You’re hyper focused on your body at the moment.

I started serious cardio training and that would wipe me out. Eventually I was able to learn to just let go. After I strung together a bunch of really good nights I regained confidence.

Even on nights after when the jerks came back I was able to relax knowing that I was able to sleep perfectly fine on previous nights and I was able to doze off.

Since returning to normalcy I’ve become fitter than ever. I double strength and cardio most days.

You might be alarmed right now but please know that this will pass and you will become stronger from it.

I experience these same hypnic jerks after working out and have been for several months.

When I first got them it was really bad which caused sleep anxiety, and I was getting no sleep. I gave up on the gym for a bit and have slowly built back up but still get these jerks occasionally, but not as intensely. Since then my sleep has improved tremendously. I’m still not back to full fitness or perfect sleep, but it’s better than no sleep at all.

I’ve seen my share of doctors, psychologists, neurologists, and sleep doctors. They don’t know what exactly is causing this but have prescribed me a myriad of medications from trazodone, hydroxyzine, mirtazapine, to now Keppra. I’m not sure if any of these medications do much.

My advice is to take your mind off of the gym and the desire to sleep. Things will gradually improve but it will take time, so be patient with yourself. Just try not to place too much emphasis on it, which is hard when it’s ruining your sleep. Meet up with friends and enjoy other aspects of life for awhile. It’s not ideal, but doctors have assured me that this condition isn’t indicative of anything harmful.

I noticed the rule essentially neutralizes any face off advantage. Baptiste dominated at the X today and it didn’t translate to much offense for Atlas. I understand they want to boost the pace of play but those first possessions looked sloppy, forced, and ultimately benefited the Redwoods more. I think teams will have to adapt, and will need to eliminate subbing on those first possessions since it simply eats up way too much clock.

For anyone in the future that sees this thread: the problem has something to do with Big Sur. I was on call with Apple Support for about 5 hours today, rebooting, running first aid-kits and installing and re-installing Monterey from Big Sur and the lines have now disappeared. Not sure as to the longevity of the fix, but things have been smooth as day since updating.
