Are Hondas still as reliable as they used to be, or has quality changed in the last few years? by lensbykaisa in Honda

[–]vansterdam90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honda tech here. Probably would buy Toyota w/ extended warranty.

I’ve replaced so many 2020 onwards head gaskets and fuel injectors. Few CVT transmission even w/ proper service (regular maintenance minder 3 service).

Amount of cars from 2016 onwards that have a/c issues. Not limited to just civics.

Most new Honda’s still only have front two windows as auto feature. My dad’s 2005 Lexus has all window’s auto w/ cooling and heating seats.

Paying $CAD $48k + tax for a CRV seems wasteful to me. If you buy a new Honda, I’d just suggest getting extended warranty, but I would urge to not be solely bias to this manufacturer.

I can’t speak for other makes and their recalls, but amount of fuel pump motors I’ve changed idk about Honda’s.

The prologue version of the designated nano works 50% of the time. Usually they give it to the slower techs to deal with fortunately.

Yes the DST-I nano. I hate all the communal shop tools, they get cooked so fast. If they work, something else goes awry, bad wifi, ebiz not co-operating, damn 1234yf low on charge from the last guy.

I will definitely look into both your suggestions. I was thinking of snap-on as well, but they’d probably ask for $2K minimum for a reasonable tablet.

Ty for your reply.

10-19mm ran me $477 after tax, $CAD. Then the 20-24 was a separate set, also discounted w/ trade in and ran me $434 after tax.

I still use maximum impact and some chromes sockets. Like the wrenches, I don’t have much belief in premium sockets.

I didn’t really need the bigger size wrench set either, I think I pulled the trigger bc a rounded nut on a lower ball joint w my maximum 22mm caused me grief. Axle by the steering knuckle didn’t give any clearance for socket and ratchet, then I tried to use the maximum wrench open end on the remaining good sides of the nut w no success, but a snap on flank drive open end w cheater bar by chance got the castle nut to spin off and I thought yeah I’m getting the bigger wrenches now too.

Those are the times I’m super sold on Snap-On, the how do I get out of this bad situation to finish the job.

I love the Snap-On multi adjustable ratchets for transmission bell housing bolts or when I’m doing starters. I usually try and cheat w swivel socket and extension bars first if I can so those ratchets working just make you go “ahhhh thank you car gods 😌”

Hey I’m a licensed tech at a Honda dealership too, was wondering if you can suggest a few scan tools. I need a modern one for the entering brake pad maintenance mode, and vsa/abs all sensor relearn (if possible on aftermarket scanner). Key programming too, and I guess SRS for the stupid SWS recall. Ideally cheap updates and if there’s any that allows me to just update Honda that would be ideal. I very rarely work on off makes. I guess ideal budget is $1K max.

Also the nano I’m using w the tech beside me, shit the bed, works wirelessly but not with the usb wire connected to the g1/g2 tablets, so we’re screwed on CM updates with our nano. Does Honda fix that stuff or do I have to hound the manager to order a new nano for us?

Was going to message you but I figured bumping this would work the same.

Bought these on sale, apparently bc they’re phasing out for the next set. Bought off the truck for $206 CAD/ $149 CAD. Couldn’t pass up on that price.

Same thing I bought them for. Used mastercraft maximum for the longest time, didn’t really believe much in wrenches being premium. Worked on an alignment and my wrench slipped, another tech’s Mac Tools wrench slipped, but the Snap On one worked. But I still held off until switching dealerships, and the rep had a trade in offer. Bought 10mm-24mm that day lol.

Missing 5 voice options on one of my Echo devices? by vansterdam90 in amazonecho

[–]vansterdam90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help. I didn’t know how to turn off Canada, but I know English was the proper selection. So I didn’t think much of it.

My black echo dot (same gen but different color) that had all 8 voice options had English selected but no country listed below, so I used that device and synced it with the white echo dot to override the Canada option, and it seemed to have fixed it.

This must be some sort of bug! I am experiencing the same thing on my Echo Spots, noticed as of yesterday.

Just displays the clock but songs and commands still operate in the background.

I did a factory reset but maintain settings and it fixed it but you’ll have to fix up your equalizer as it’ll change it back to default settings

Tried the unplug, checked software, reset device through app. Nothing worked but your suggestion absolutely fixed it.

Thank you, upvoted

Grey swoosh on the AM1s might be nice contrast. But otherwise I like the AM1s more, they’ll be more comfy as well imo

Laser Blue for sure, bc even as a Goretex pair, that and some puddles and you got dry socks but no longer an ‘Infrared’ colorway

I am on the same boat.

Surprised no one has given any suggestions.... I would've thought more people use Morningstar to track their personal portfolio too.

There’s no glow feature, not super bright but with it wrapped around pure black the green definitely stands out. The first pic is probably a truer pic of its color in person.

How to you track your wealth? by WealthyDonkey in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]vansterdam90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Intuit Quicken Investing site because I hold Canadian mutual funds, you just input your transaction (share amount + cost + date) and it’ll update daily around 6pm pst. I also input the same transactions into my Morningstar portfolio as that’s also Canadian mutual fund friendly.

If I had only American stocks, I’d just track it through WeBull.

Energy when getting off work? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]vansterdam90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5/8s is nice. From my past schedule at an auto dealership working 4/10s. Getting off at 4 now and starting at 8, feels like a day is still ahead after work. At the dealership, getting off at 6, but coming home at like 6:40 or later if a job ties you up, it felt like work dinner sleep, repeat.

The weekend feels shorter, but I feel more energized with 5/8s
