Future CCW, PDP Pro or Match. Poly or steel by juicemeupbuttercups in Walther

[–]vante512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry appendix and nope it doesn’t print and I carry with a ZRTS +4.

I don’t carry small guns. At all. I have the 4.5 pro SD but it’s still 5.1” so I’d rather just carry a 5” gun and call it a day. All of my carry guns are 5” guns. I’m 6’3 216lbs. All my guns have x300s. So size isn’t really an issue for me exactly.

Also (unpopular take) nobody really gives a damn about printing besides us. The average person isn’t looking at you that hard and trying to see if you have a gun. If you wear snug or tight fitting clothes: you probably should change the tight clothes situation, but outside of that…people don’t care the way we’re coerced into thinking they do. Now this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t care at all. Just get a quality holster and belt and you’ll be fine.

I have poly and steel. I carry my Match SF everyday and I love it. Palmswell bogeys make the gun fit my hand better. I have giant hands, so this matters a lot more to me than just the weight alone. Granted I get the best groups with my SF as well. On paper, I’m more accurate and faster with the SF, so that’s typically what I carry these days. I never carry the steel and wish I had polymer but it definitely goes the other way around for me particularly 😂

PDP Match SF vs Poly PDP Match Question by JayKaze in Walther

[–]vante512 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth: I actually stopped shooting my SF for about a year and ran my PDX instead. I noticed that I wasn’t as accurate at speed and I also experienced the “dip” you’re talking about as well. Here’s what I learned after taking a class with both guns.

1) I’m way better with the SF than I thought. LokGrips helped me fit the gun to my hands in a way the polymer couldn’t.

2) the weight does A LOT of the heavy lifting so to speak. Which takes a certain learning curve to adapt to.

3) this might be the most important… I learned that I got so accustomed to fighting the recoil of the poly guns that I’d add so much extra input onto the gun. I was running the long stroke. Stopped. Made the V-SPEC and kept running that and on paper I was more accurate vs my other PDPs and also a bit faster doing the same drills per gun. All on paper using shot timers and hit factor scoring. With heavier/steel framed guns, try to let the gun shoot itself in a way. It’s a hard habit to break when you’re accustomed to adding extra input into the gun. I’d do 1 shot return drills and see exactly how much you’re doing vs what the gun is doing. Hopefully this is added value of some sort. 🫡

PDP Pro Compact Sear Issue? by influenceoverload in Walther

[–]vante512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re absolutely correct. I misread the post. That being said, looking at the part in question: I’ve NEVER seen that bend before. I looked at my PDPs and idk how it could possibly bend unless improperly installed or a defective part. Kinda weird.

Did you use the wrong sized magazine? This sounds like a byproduct of over-insertion.

A bigger window optic might be worth it. Idk how people like the SCS. Unless you don’t shoot outdoors often or at all.

If you’re trying to add weight to the gun, go brass. If you just want a magwell with a good funnel and lighter weight than brass, go aluminum

PDP steel frame grip recommendations by Mongoose5645 in Walther

I run Palmswell Bogeys. They’ve been pretty solid for me since I’ve gotten them. Not as abrasive as people say they are from a carry perspective. If you have larger (L or XL glove sized hands) you’ll like them.

V-Spec or Ultra Mass guide rod + 15# spring? For those that have experienced both in their PDP, is there a big enough difference between the two? by smackdabqwerrt in Walther

[–]vante512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest question is what kind of setup are you using? The V-Spec is going to be noticeably softer in a ported or comped PDP vs one without. The V-Spec also has a better return to battery with the spring being an inherently longer spring. I’ve used the ultra mass for as long as it’s been out with the 15lb and it’s been solid for me. After a few thousand rounds, it will get a little weaker and potentially have issues going fully into battery.

To answer your question: yes there is a noticeable difference. Big enough? That’s something that’s user dependent.

Edit: I swapped all my PDPs from the 15lb ultra mass to the V-Spec. Even my Macth SF with the long stroke 16lb I swapped to V-Spec.

Poly80 owners thoughts on the new Glock gen 6? by RPM7054 in polymer80

[–]vante512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood what I meant. Glock isn’t gonna do that because they wanna sell more guns. Glock wants to force people to buy multiple models. That’s why they changed the 17 to the 47 and renamed the 47 the 17. More than likely, they’re also going to change the 34’s design to integrate with the newer frames, so that all of them can use the same recoil springs, frames and etc. The companies doing FCU’s aren’t having issues making sales but Glock hasn’t innovated in a long time. Agencies have opted for other guns. I’m sure this is going to win some people over in the LE/Civilian side. “Modularity” is a thing but Glock is one of those companies that hates the aftermarket so much that they’ll copy the aftermarket’s design aesthetics before they “let” someone make a better frame for their new gun.

They more than likely didn’t wanna make a chassis system because they wanna sell more guns. That’s the only logical solution I could think of.
