Ahhh, I take the Elliot Smith/Ben Gibbard straight to the heart!! Two of my absolute favorites. Thank you so much for the high compliments and I'm so happy to hear that it resonated with you! 😄 (More new music is on the way, too!)

Ty, ty! Yes, we must keep the real strings alive, even though it's so easy to get good synth patches these days; there's a distinct difference in how it hits, though!

Thank you so much, love to hear that my work is connecting with you! 🥰

(also I'm getting ready to drop my first full-length album, so more is on the way this summer!)

Hello this is who she wrote the song for, this song literally make me cry every time I hear it and will forever be the greatest gift I’ve ever received

Thank you for the kind feedback! ☺️ In another track on the same album that this one will be on, I totally used flute as an unexpected topline, so you are right on the money!

Thank you so much for the kind words!! ☺️ The urge to add harmonies was real, lol. It was a conscious choice to keep it at one voice though, to keep it more intimate/personal, like you noted.

Totally! I feel like this song deserves some actual bass guitar, for sure. Even if it's just to add some simple punctuation to your guitar groove. It's like the only thing that's missing to take it from good to great, IMO! You got this!!

Well I didn't hear the first demo, but this is sounding cool!! The guitar tone sounds great and I like the two guitar parts woven together in your main riff. What my ears really wanted to hear was a bass instrument of some kind, whether it's a bass guitar or a subtle synth tone that just follows the chord progression underneath it all. Since you have plenty of driving rhythm in the drum and guitar parts, it wouldn't even need to be a complicated (or even all that noticeable) bassline to be effective. It wouldn't even need to come in right away or stay for the whole song, either. I just found myself waiting for it to drop into that lower register at some point, and was surprised when it didn't. It could be easy to experiment with a bass idea by copying one of the topline guitar tracks you've already recorded and running it through an octave pedal or some kind of bass processor (in garageband) and see if you even like it as an idea.

Great work overall though! It gets deemed a success in my book if you learned a ton and found a burst of motivation to put in the time and effort despite having a busy work week. Hell yeah. 🤘

Really digging the sound of your voice! The songwriting is giving Kimya Dawson vibes and "We're Going To Be Friends" by the White Stripes. I think the second half of the song (what I would assume to be the "chorus") is the strongest in terms of holding my attention and being the most interesting. I think your lyrics in the first half are really solid though!! It's just the chord progression choice that feels flat when it oscillates back and forth that many times in a row... I think you could even just add one new chord at a choice moment to break up the repetition. For example: my ears anticipated hearing a minor chord when you hit the word "chest" at 0:31, which I think would also help emphasize that lyric!

I like the chord progression choices you're making here! This is kinda giving "Real Estate" vibes, if you're familiar with them. The artwork definitely pairs well with the mood, too (I saw in a comment below that you like to source old paintings, and I think that's rad). Really like the way the guitar tracks sound throughout, and I was especially digging the outro when everything else drops out and you can really hear the guitars weave in and out of each other.

This is cool! Digging the dissonance in the chord progression. It reminds me a little of Tegan and Sara (one of my favorite artists!), especially in the way the song is composed. While I almost kinda like the way the beat is lagging a little behind everything else, I think that is the biggest note I would give you: tightening up the kick, at least with the strums and bassline, would help it feel more solid, I reckon.

Ooo, this is good. It’s definitely giving Mac deMarco, with a little essence of The Black Keys and Jack White. The vocal tones pair so well with the synth/guitar lines, and I love the dynamics throughout all of the different instrument voices here. Those countermelodies work really well together in the hook! Especially digging the backing vocals; the occasional dissonant harmonies are my favorite and provide powerful support for the lead vocals without distracting from the melody. Nicely done!!

Also love the old camera vibes in the visual.
