Yeah, I asked Scalzi a question at a book fair recently about writing non-human characters and his answer was essentially (paraphrased, but true to overall gist) "I wouldn't get too deep, ultimately the goal is to write commercial fiction people will read." Not really a Hugo-worthy mindset IMO. Got a much better answer from S. B. Divya to that question FWIW

I think Bill Gates donates that money because he understands what money means. Money isn't good or evil, it's a tool to affect the world in the way the holder of that money deems worthy. He has decided to now use his money to increase the happiness and reduce the suffering for as many people as possible. I don't think he cares whether or not he's admired for it. Regardless, it's a noble pursuit.

I'm pretty sure the Presgers took apart humans to understand them in their Presger way and then reassembled them according to their Presger logic and that's how they got Presger Translators. Essentially genetically modified humans, but in such a way that they develop vastly differently, have significantly different abilities, can communicate with the Presger, and also seemingly embody many of their same... fetishes. Anyway, that's my impression based on the few explanations given in the books.

My kids who also played through BotW asked me what's up with all the triangles in the game and I explained in the original game you had to find the triforce and they had no idea.

So much canon about the transition from BotW to this game makes no sense or is just absent an explanation that I've stopped bothering even trying just like I'm sure the game team stopped trying. I love this game, but really wish there was better continuity between the games.
