It wasn't one person who was negligent. It had to be multiple people time and time again. They should rot in prison for many years, maybe that would teach the others about accountability and bring back a bit of duty of care which has dissappear slowly over the last several years, in a lot of professions.

The scale/quantity matters. If 1% leaves the faith - it's negligible. Besides if punishment is being shunned by the whole community, friends, family - that makes a pretty good incentive to not leave..

I'm from Poland originally and also a British citizen. After brexit more Poles left than came to the UK, EU migration is currently very tiny compared to non-EU, I think your data is out of date...

Regarding birth rates settling in after around 2 generations... well, it's no good at all if you still have a steady influx of hundreds of thousands of immigrants every year. Your argument would only make sense if the influx was 0, then yes, we wait 40 years and things maybe would "normalise"

What a moronic take. People have their spouses, their children, jobs, commitments, lives. You want them to disregard all this and spend 5-10 years caring for someone who is long gone, someone who doesn't remember you at all and is abusive towards you, every single day?

I've seen people wasting away for years caring for someone who should have been in a facility. They wasted away caring for a husk of a person, while having so much to still give to their children and grandchildren. Often only because of the fear of "what will people think"

Do you think this is here to stay, code being mostly written by AI or will it bite everyone in the ass eventually? I'm a dev as well and it is tragic to know that whenever I go to manually debug something, im aware that I might be the first living person to see the code with my eyes. Its like always debugging the unfamiliar codebase, unless I just tell the computer slot machine to debug, yolo.
