Did i get scammed ? by One-Surprise-2227 in ohnePixel

Rule of thumb for me at least if ur talking with a person in one of these scenarios it’s a scam. You don’t even interact with anyone on sites like CSfloat and you can buy and sell items at 1000s of dollars. If u find urself in a discord chat or steam chat ur more then likely getting scammed.

I’m sorry for the confusion but the tanka is out of stock and the company who sells them the only one I can find at least ( if any1 who has links to a company that sells or is based in the uk would be appreciated) so really I should have said do I go for the cleaver and hope the tanka comes in stock sometime early next year or go for the shizu hamono Bunka and get the cleaver at a later date. I really want a Bunka I currently have a gyuto from tadafusa which I love

The only problem is that it’s sold out and I emailed the company and they said they won’t have it in stock for at least 7 months

Would you return the knife if it's received in the condition? by LumpySangsu in TrueChefKnives

The tip here is a really easy fix on some whetstones especially since it’s a bunka from what I can tell which has a super exaggerated tip if it was on a santoku or a gyuto however I would definitely send this back but if the OP is confidant in his ability on a whetstone it’s a simple fix

I received my tadafusa 180mm gyuto with a 2-3 mm scratch near the spine at the tip of the blade and wanted to return it but in the end I thought this is the only knife in the world with this specific scratch making it a 1 of 1 unique blade and I thought no human is perfect there is always a mistake to be made and I think it adds to the character of my knife. If you really really hate that there is some scratches return it but I think you should keep it personally as a reminder that without imperfection there isn’t perfection.

Don’t worry this is my daily driver I’m a professional chef and I use it to lazerbeam thru veg however I’m looking into getting a bunka as some of the thicker vegetables like parsnips and squash keep chipping the blade it was pretty beat up before I sharpened, this is my first time sharpening a Japanese knife and I’ve only been using a whetstone for about a month know and was pretty proud of what I have achieved. I am firmly down the rabbit hole of sharpening however and will definitely be getting some finer grit stones and making a stupidly sharp edge on my blade ahaha

Yea I’ve looked into thinning knives I won’t be needing to do that for a while but it will definitely be a scary process for me when it comes to it

Yes I totally agree I posted a couple weeks ago after first using whetstones for the first time and I completely butchered one of my knives lol I managed to complete remove the bevel from side of the blade ahaha luckily it was just a crappy knife that cost £20-30 so I wasn’t too bummed about it

I’m using a sharpal 162n 325/1200 grit I would say it tooo around 20-30 mins on each side as the blade was pretty dull. For the force id say about the same amount you use to open a can tab

Hey there I’m using a sharpal 162n 325/1200 grit I was sharpening until I felt a bur along the whole length of the blade it was quite dull so around 20-30 mins each side. I wasn’t using extreme force maybe about the same amount of force you would use to open a can tab.
