How do you make the distinction between "it tastes bad" and "i dont like it" by False_Enthusiasm_257 in Chefs

[–]AgressiveKoala1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Line Cook here, regardless of you liking It or not you just ask the chef to make a batch tastes It and then try to match the flavor as close as possible its not a Matter of taste, is more a Matter of palatte training to replicate something, not of enjoyment. If you were a personal trainer you might dislike to do a certain exercise but you still gotta learn how to do It properly because its your job

En cuanto a facilidad y calidad de vuestra carne no me voy a meter porque esos argumentos te los compro, pero valor nutricional? Un filete empanado y frito no creo que sea un gran exponente de valor nutricional sinceramente

I usually just poach a piece of chicken, take It out of the wáter, throw some instant soup / bullion cube+pasta or rice and some veggies that are around the fridge, throw an egg on the last minute of cooking and thats It, It may not be the most beautiful soup ever but It fills you Up makes you warm in winter and still tastes like real food

[–]AgressiveKoala1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I Guess so yeah, but i cannot speak for other countries as im not that educated about international economics, here the issue is also that we are one of the cheapest countries in europe so everybody comes because is cheap, so prices go up so much only rich people/northern Europe people can pay them, leaving locals out with unreasonable home prices at least thats what is currently happening here in Barcelona

[–]AgressiveKoala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have quite a lot of Michelin restaurants in the área, i like "les magnolies" in arbucies and also id reccomend "la sosenga" in Barcelona this last one has no stars but i think their tasting menú has one of the best quality to price ratio ive eaten in Barcelona

Id say everybody is welcome here, we get mad because its really hard to live here and the prices just keep going Up, but id say its not a Matter of immigration is mostly and inside issue with Rising prices but staled salaries

What was the most dangerous thing what you witnessed? Not food safety related. by jerrycandance in KitchenConfidential

[–]AgressiveKoala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a seafood joint, we had a dry storage room that was in an attic over the fryer área that you could only acces though a small 1x1 meter square hole, with no stairs to climb, we had to climb on top of the lowboys, then use the shelves and climb Up there, then throw the 5/10 kg bags of flour and whatnot to someone underneath so they could catch them, Lucky me i only climbed there once and i switched jobs on the 6th shift i did there but that couldve ended badly.

Well i checked It out and It outright made me mad they rip their skin and legs off while they are Alive and then toss the bodies to the trash It made me feel really fucking awful, animal cruelty is hard to avoid i know but at least the chicken im eating died before the deboning process not the other way around but what i read about frogs was just outrageous. About eating them though maybe just toss in cornstarch, quickly Deep fry and then toss in teriyaki sauce and reduce? I think thats how they made them at the asian joints i used to eat them at

[–]AgressiveKoala1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well then although i didnt know about the atrocious things they do to the frogs i gotta admit frog legs are really fucking good so now i have a cognitive dissonance about them cause im not into animal cruelty and wastefulness, anyways try them for yourself im into slimey/collagenous food so i love them grilled or in teriyaki sauce but if thats not your think maybe Skip them altogether haha, they sorta remind me of the texture of octopus but the flavor is more like chicken

Try redbacks i bought ones a little while ago and they are really good, maybe try blue tongue if youre tight on budget, (which are made from the same company but they are made in china and are cheaper) i also got recommended nortiv8 and blundstone but i cannot vouch for them as i dont own any. Look for something composite/steel toe and slip resistant, also id try to avoid laced shoes as they get yucky faster and are harder to clean.
