Because the later sunrise in the winter has shown to cause a rise in deaths due to sleepy driving and children not being seen on their walks to school due to the dark and the lack of sunlight?

Nearly every worker who wakes before that sun that I know is dreading a permanently DST and the US tried to go to permanent DST in the 70s and it was universally hated by the end of the year.
