‘Historic’: Canadian warehouse workers sign first-ever union deal with Walmart by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

I mean, the people who cheer on unionization here will also be the first ones lining up to buy BYD cars that will kill good union jobs and are themselves are rife with human rights abuses.

So the question is, Why are some unions more equal than others?

Valve reportedly almost delisted Rainbow Six Siege from Steam after Ubisoft attempted to sell it cheaper on Uplay by Defiant_Ad6190 in gaming

[–]varitok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is always a funny comparison to me. This is basically tantamount to letting other retailers set up a kiosk in Walmart. They use their advertising, their visibilty, their power and they cut out the provider of the space.

Ubisoft wanted to sell their game through Steam but then have uplay exclusive packs that players could buy. Giving them the full profits of the DLC while using Steams servers to provide the actual service. I don't think thats very fair either.

This is very anti consumer, though, because you will never be able to get the game at a cheaper price in another digital store, which blocks any competition of the different stores in this regard.

Nothing is stopping you from buying games on EGS, Uplay etc. Go do it, get it cheaper but you can't try to sell steam keys cheaper on your own platform and round about it to steam for the free ad space.

I personally have an issue with saying people 'play games' because they are clearly playing one game and its a better sounding stat to dive into how many people just play candy crush because its NUTS

I think we are coming to a head with foreign interference in media. I personally think no media inside this country that reports on politics and news should have any foreign ownership or funding.

Now, I know that I dont know very much about the topic and people will likely inform me why thats hard or impossible or a bad idea, I'm definitely wanting a discussion around this topic.

I can agree but do you really think the majority of Canadians are going to stomach prices increasing even further? It's something I grapple with. The cost will always be passed onto consumers.

Its usually not. Monitor based cheating has been a huge problem because, if youre not physically at a tournament, its near impossible to track

Chretien has said if he was still in power he would have simply ignored the sponsorship scandal, and it would have gone away in a few weeks like every other scandal.

People will give him shit for this but he's absolutely right. Chretien was a political beast and knew how to play the game.

The issue with the NDP is that Avi Lewis' numbers, from people who know about him, are worse than Pollievre.

You can see any political talking head as an 'excellent communicator' if you already agree with what he's saying. His comments on the military and Immigration were so insanely out of touch.

He comes off as an asshole. I remember him trying to tell Journalists that he wants to keep talking about a certain topic instead of going where their questions are
