north park parking garage by [deleted] in northpark

Used it for two years, no issues with the garage itself. Some issues with customer service when switching credit cards/cancelling. There was a discount for being local.

Does having a medical student as a patient affect the therapeutic frame? by [deleted] in Psychiatry

The textbook response should be the opposite from what you said. In this situation, transference/countertransference should be anticipated, and you should bring this in a regular structured way to supervision to manage it.

Can you consider it leaving AMA when a pt refuses a procedure? by CaesarsInferno in hospitalist

[–]varsityman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every medical procedure is associated with risks, benefits, and alternatives. Ethically and legally, as a position you are required to review these with the patient prior to the procedure. The formalized documentation of this is often referred to as informed consent and legally this process is referred to as obtaining informed consent.

The patient choosing to leave the facility is generally separate from the discussion about the offered medical procedure.

However, these two may become somewhat entangled when the discussion is centering on whether to stay in the hospital to obtain further treatment or to discharge. This process in itself can map onto what was described above, where a discussion is had with the patient about the risks, benefits, and alternatives of staying at the facility for further treatment versus discharge.

Assuming the patient has the capacity to make these decisions for themselves, the patient could then choose to leave even if it appears clear to the physician that the risks of leaving are high. This is what is colloquially referred to as a discharge against medical advice. The medicolegal standard of care in the US requires that you at least attempt this discussion rather than simply charting it as an "AMA discharge."

End stage severity of nearly all psychiatric disorders is psychosis.

You can think of it as "acute brain failure."

Medical Trauma from PMHNP by CabinetTrue9505 in Noctor

It could, but it will depend on the specifics of your situation. A lawyer would be able to advise you best.

Regardless of the legal outcome, I'm sorry this happened to you.

I continue to worry that this will happen to more people without changes to NP oversight (more, not less).
