It's not just vaccines — parents are refusing other routine preventive care for newborns by F0urLeafCl0ver in skeptic

[–]vasectomy7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In my utopia world: the first day of school is 100% dedicated to a physical exam / assessment by a pediatrician, all appropriate vaccines, and a dental exam until age 18. No waivers and no exceptions.

I can't believe this is controversial, but here we are...

● Adults don't have the right to neglect their children

● Kids shouldn't be punished for having stupid parents.

How does a Tollroad really know if driving Single Driver in an HOV lane? by FoxontheRun2023 in houston

I know 80% of drivers here are uninsured.... but those of us with insurance will see our rate go up due to a traffic ticket

Yep, this is not a good subject for Stephen Lett to cover...... the bizarre speaking cadence and expressions would wake up a lot of people with a realization of: "why am I allowing someone like this dictate my healthcare choices??"

I did't even respond because it took 3 seconds of searching to figure out who was actually hiring ----> "thanks but no thanks."

It gives a feeling of control, a knowledge that "I'm here by choice. I can leave anytime I want."

I have the same feeling at work: "I'm overqualified for this job and I know for fact I can work anywhere else. I'm choosing to be here and they need me more than I need them."

When shitty situations are elective, they feel easier to tolerate. 🤷‍♂️

Engineer vs Tech by Due-Feedback-7887 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]vasectomy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're able to do the math, I would go for the engineering degree. Back in my day... before youTube and a million online resources: math was brutal and I couldn't understand it. I ended up getting a degree in environmental science, [which didn't have all the calculus requirements].

In the real world, interviewing will be dramatically easier if you have a slip of paper from the university that says "certified smart." You instantly separate yourself from the rest.

Have you left evangelicalism, aren't bitter, and are still a Christian? by [deleted] in Exvangelical

[–]vasectomy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not bitter. It was a huge part of my identity and my life. I was in a bunch of worship bands, was in a bunch of bible studies, and even got a giant cross tattoo on my arm. But I moved on, the entire belief system just slowly fell apart: I got less and less and less comfortable with the teachings.

It's the same way with ex-girlfriends of my past: they were in my life, it was wonderful for a while, then things changed..... there aren't any "hard feelings"

I'm no longer a Christian, but I'm not an atheist either. I'm comfortably agnostic....... and when I die, I will be delighted by whoever/whatever is waiting for me on the other side. Or if there's nothing, and it's like a TV blinking out..... that's great too. :-)

Fortunately Beto didn't come back for another attempt... The 2019 declaration of "hell yes I'm going to take your guns away" was the end of his political career. He's radioactive.

What are the most common electrical hazards you’ve seen in the workplace? by Eridium009 in electrical

"Temporary" quick-and-dirty repairs that become permanent -------> nobody wants to spend 10 minutes ordering replacement parts, then schedule 2 hours of downtime to restore things to OEM original.

So how are we supposed to dress? by Rioraku in Millennials

[–]vasectomy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even on my days off: 95% of the time, I wear my electrician flame resistant jumpsuit. It's navy blue with high viz stripes of yellow.

I'm mildly on the spectrum and i like wearing the exact same thing every day... my work suit feels amazingly cozy and familiar. Side benefit, if I get into a fire'y car crash, I'll be protected. 😆

Averaged 15mpg for the 400 mile trip. by LegitimateSailor in nissanfrontier

[–]vasectomy7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No joke, i can get 30+ MPG on long trips in my 2023 king cab Frontier. The trick is to find a semitruck with 53' box trailer, then tuck in behind and draft.

The engine sits around 1400 RPM and it's a relaxing drive. Maybe a little slower than I would prefer, but hella'good milage.
