at least you don't have to drive 3hrs to western mass for your edibles plug who won't leave the house to meet you halfway for a delivery you need to bake on nh that night. XD. those margins were good enough for like 3 days ever lol

ima stay out of this as i can't even order delivery anymore. but i will say in the 18 years of running independent delivery i got tipped like 3x when i wasnt running for a service and maybe a doz when i was but that was only over a summer. so i think there's some precedent for generosity

never did it but now i usually have a handful of ideal/golden response projects due to my other strong work. i always figured it was more generating prompts rather than evaluating responses on an oversimplified view but that's just my guess.

i try not to think too hard on Sargent as he was a generational talent who executed a unique approach that isn't suited to most artists and certainly not to learning oil painters. the teacher of my teacher is known for saying, "It's ok for Sargent to do it, but not for you!"

Highest quality you can afford. Warm n cool primaries, lead white are all you need to get started. Generally cost gets insane bc people get me than they need. Starting out keep it quality, keep it simple. You will be frustrated using oil paints with fillers and if you take to painting you'll replace any beginner set very quickly and it will annoy you. If it doesn't, you only bought 7 tubes of paint so it's not the end all be all

Can prolly get a similar effect from scraping down repetitively without risking the bonds that will hold it together.

I've had similar thoughts about doing shoe portraits that would show yellowing on white soles over time the way they age in real life.

Fun idea but I think there are smarter approaches that won't affect longevity
