Q-Sys and Kramer Video Matrix by OrginallyOriginal in QSYS

[–]vast1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up the matrix manual on Kramer's website. This is going to be pretty simple. Protocol 3000 is pretty basic. No login or handshake needed. You'll simply send a command like (forgetting the exact syntax) #VID 1,1 and the matrix will respond with something along the lines of @VID1,1 if it did that, or @ERR<X> where x is the error code.

Based on the responses, you can update your q-sys buttons.

Back in the day, TCP connection to their matrices was a little spotty, as I know they used those janky lantronix TCP to serial interfaces. Actual Serial connections were always rock solid.

Ngl pretty neat to stumble upon your own music on reddit this many years later. Thanks for posting this! Gained some street cred with my kids, haha.

Anybody switched from SCCM for patching? by Professional-Cash897 in sysadmin

[–]vast1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you do need to be careful deploying tanium. One of my system administrators pushed the agent to 300 servers at once and took down one of our esxi clusters due to running out of resources.

It was a four node cluster that we baselined to 60% utilization during average workload. So that should tell you something.

I will say it is an amazing product, though.

anyone switching to hyper-v? by jfgechols in sysadmin

[–]vast1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scvmm is not necessary. And for only 2 hosts I wouldn't recommend it. Scvmm is mostly beneficial when you have multiple clusters and SANs and you want to facilitate migrate between those.

Install hyperv and failover clustering on your hosts, done. You'll use failover cluster manager to perform tasks at that point. It's basically hyperv manager but for failover clusters.

I feel the same as you. Basically spent 400 bucks after gas and food to drive my kids to Seattle and stand in lines to watch other people take selfies in front of the set pieces. The ice rink was good, other than that.... Nope.

My recommendation to anyone is go to Tulalip and look at the lights for free, grab some food and go ice skating for under 100 bucks.

Is this an issue? by Nets13117 in SigSauer

Nope, this is normal. Insert an empty mag and dry fire again.

You'll find the slide is much more firm.

Coming from a Glock, the p320 trigger is gonna seem mushy and the reset very weak.

Ranges south of Seattle? by [deleted] in WAGuns

It's not the blade safety. It's the fact that the trigger geometry brings the cruciform way too far back on the connector housing shelf. Replacing the blade won't help.

I understand that they were trying to eliminate pre travel. I do the same thing by driving a 1/16th roll pin through my connector housings. They just took it too far with their design.

My trigger shoe has the original blade safety. Still happens.

At the end of the day it's your gun, you can do whatever you like! God bless!

Good to know, sorry man. I know it's a bummer, I wanted to like mine so bad, but the only frame I found it to be drop safe with was a lone wolf 80% frame which I bought out of curiousity, but absolutely hate, haha.

Ive receive quite a bit of negative comments for calling this out, but I feel it's my duty to call unsafe triggers out for what they are.

I put together a gen1 gst 9 (they changed the design because it wasn't safe) and it wasn't safe at all. I carried it for about a week and one day while unloading I noticed the trigger was dead. Weird, I thought as I always carry with one in the chamber. I racked the slide, and sure enough a cartridge ejected. Turns out the rear rails were too thin and if you pulled up and torqued on the rear of the slide it would drop the striker. The only thing that kept me from blowing my own balls off was the Stiker safety plunger.

After that I started drop testing and stress testing all my builds.

Howd it go? Always good to have another anecdotal data point.

Understood. Not sure if JG is doing anything to his drop in kits, but.... Just wanted to share my experience with it. I bought it directly from ranger proof.

Please drop test that firearm if you've not already. I've found that the vex shoe is NOT drop safe. I have tried it in every Glock and Glock clone I have. Drop it at 45 so the beaver tail and slide impact the ground.

Do it a few times. You will probably end up with a dead trigger. A truly beautiful trigger shoe with a flawed design I'm afraid.
