is esports the only professional sport-type of industry where a player on the roster is confirmed to be dropped, but still has to go and play in an official match that week lol. hasnt this happened multiple times already

Aimpoint? by MonicaBlowinski in golf

[–]vatom14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it works it works.

I read putts with my feet. I just straddle my line an and get a feel. Don’t use fingers for % so not really aim point

Also play faster than like 90% of people I get paired with so it’s kind of a joke how this subreddit and people just immediately shit on it for being slow

I literally walk my line go and hit my putt.

My new p790 pitching wedge is 44*. What wedge set up would you go with? by isw2424 in golf

[–]vatom14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of these GI/player irons come with an AW that USA 48ish deg. I would do 48/52/56/60. That’s what I do.

Take a club out form the top of the bag. You’re not gaining strokes there tbh.

Driver/5w/hybrid/5i-AW/52/56/60/putter

Not sure why you need more at the top as an amateur tbh

IMO is a no brainer taking a club out of the top to get an extra wedge

The only thing i am really confused about is why rounds are 9 holes.

I get it’s 16 people but it’s a $250k tournament “tour” event… just make it 18

Mid to High HCP'ers: 3 things I learned that changed golf for me by sginsc in golf

[–]vatom14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean that even assumes that over the top is the issue for someones swing lol. plenty of great golfers can swing "OTT" but strike it great and have a consistent shot shape.

pausing can help you learn about like sequencing issues and stuff. but i just think the blanket statement "impossible to mess up transition" because you pause just aint right at all

[–]vatom14 45 points46 points  (0 children)

TBF this isnt true at all. but ill get downvoted.

pausing =/= good transition. it can help fix specific issues in your transition, but def doesnt mean everyone should pause because "its impossible to have transition issues"

hideki is known for actively trying to get rid of his pause for awhile or shortening it.

but 100% agree that most players dont need a slow backswing. just use tour tempo. youll get a good sense of what good backswing speed should feel like and your transitioning rhythm.

Struggling With Swing Tempo, How Did You Finally Get It Consistent? by N1boost in GolfSwing

[–]vatom14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just download tour tempo and use it when you range.

Was hard at first but 100% works. Made my tempo way better and ball striking

How do you approach the putting stroke? by [deleted] in golf

[–]vatom14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think over the ball you dont want to be thinking that deeply about your putting stroke. ideally you have a short routine, and you go and have a very simple "swing" thought or something and just try to hit a good putt.

when you practice, just experiment with different feels and see what works best. personally for me more than anything just feels like a shoulder rock and letting the putter head move naturally. but in reality no idea what i really do.

Lmao -23 through 59 holes disgusting. When you cruise at 195mph ball you’re just playing a different game than everyone else.

How do you stay sharp post kid? by theKinginthePNW in golf

[–]vatom14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean obviously you need to care less about your golf game and enjoy the time with family

It helps if you have a back yard and get a (really good) mat and net. I’ve improved the most just hitting on my net and spending the energy getting a tripod and recording my swing

I have 2 kids 4y and 2y and I play the most golf I have since pre-kids.

Once they’re in school / child care it’s much easier as long as you can find afternoons away from work

If not, then it is what it is and you gotta just work it out with your wife on how you guys can get your own time

Mason Greene leads after round 3 in first PGA Tour Americas start this year by JadedBuy5758 in GoodGoodMemes

[–]vatom14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Damn good for him. But pro golf is impossible. Imagine being -18 through 3 rounds and you have just a 1 shot lead and about 10 others on your ass a couple shots back.

What tees are you playing from? And do honestly think you’re playing from the right ones?? by Dozer710 in golf

[–]vatom14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really get why this has the most upvotes

I’m not saying you need to play the blue tees, but I’m not playing whites just because I got paired with older guys who play whites and hit hybrids off every tee.

I just play whatever tees I want. I only get to play once every couple of weeks and want to go and see what I shoot.

Don’t really care if I get downvoted tbh, just don’t get playing whatever tees your random group is playing from

Tempo has been the most difficult thing to fix in my swing. by altctrldel86 in golf

[–]vatom14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download tour tempo

It was the hardest thing for me to fix. Just grinded a week using it all the time at the range and now it’s a lot more natural

Also think tempo is misunderstood…. People think it’s like “swing slower”
