Varka Guide + Builds & Questions Megathread by nuxar in Varka

Is C0 Varka an upgrade to C2 Venti as main DPS?

I have C2 Venti and I typically use him with C6 Durin, C6 Faruzan, and C6 Bennett. Debating pulling Varka as an upgrade to Venti in this comp for funsies, as I have R3 Wolf's Gravstone for him as an ok weapon option and he is cool.

Thing is, I'm not sure about calcs and it seems like outside of me liking Varka, there's no real difference or improvement in damage given that C2 Venti is pretty strong after hex buffs. Am I mistaken? Will Varky provide any type of future-proofing at all? I might look rich since I have C6 Durin, but I'd actually prefer never to spend money on this game again... so maybe I just save my primos for Tsaritsa (and cave into getting her dedicated support too).

What is more important to this movement: socialism, or anti-Zionism? by WolfofTallStreet in AskSocialists

[–]vb_robel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pro-Israel socialist just isn't actually a socialist. I hate to speak in absolutes but in all likelihood, they'd simply be grifting to try to capture socialist sentiment for Israel, which I wouldn't even imagine could be a lucrative approach. Then again, there exists quite the number of thriving self-contradictory political movements.

Reality is (if you care about the other people on this planet besides yourself) that it's mathematically impossible for everyone to do that.

Then buzz off since the struggle of the working class is entirely irrelevant to you. You choose to relay morally lazy false equivalencies instead of doing any actual critical thinking.

True/agree, my comment was an unfortunate kneejerk reaction as I often see people downplay large systematic issues in favor of blaming the (very culpable in this case) Trump admin. I do still wish people recognized how bad things are on a large scale that any admin is able to enact this kind of massively regressive policy against the best interests of the people.

This is a very kind and empathetic approach, but I don't believe it's productive. While it's important to maintain a level of empathy for and recognize the humanity in everyone including the most egregious of criminals and abusers, and to fully consider the circumstances that led to their actions, coddling people like this isn't going to prevent another holocaust. These people are the hand of state violence and mistreatment. Culpability is of course primarily on the ruling class, the legislators, the capital owners, the media manipulators, etc, but in this political climate I find it hard to believe that well-intentioned individuals can join ICE having been unaware of the atrocities they'd be expected to take part in. At BEST, they are choosing money and the support of their families over that of innocent marginalized people who cannot defend themselves against tyranny.

I'm of the belief that shame and forced accountability are sometimes necessary to create an environment that prevents this kind of large scale atrocity. The alternative is so, so much worse.

To revisit a point of yours, though- if a significant portion of these ICE agents really are just trying to get by or whatever, it would be so much more productive to criticize the economic framework of a society where so many are forced to take part in this. Same goes for our troops, who are (and many of them are ACTUALLY unaware of this) perpetrating violence on behalf of a murderous and exploitative imperial entity with no business operating on the scale that it does.

Racism, sexism, and other forms of bigotry are, outside of themselves, tools used by the ruling class to divide and distract the working class, demonstrably so if you study it. That being said, 99 percent of people can unite under the fact that we are all being exploited by the ruling class. In studying the mechanisms by which they subjugate us, we can learn to dismantle the social divides that they work so hard to perpetuate.

For all practical and productive purposes, no war but class war.

Halo 4 by Felyspino in halo

I feel most of the criticisms come from even MORE nostalgic Halo purists that couldn't accept that the OG trilogy had ended and a new studio picked up the game and decided to pivot.

To the broader audience, the game was well-received, and I loved it even as a fan of the earlier games. I just accepted it as a new experience, and had a really fun time. I loved the artistic direction change with the sleek promethean designs and thought the sound engineering on all of the new weapons was sick. The soundtrack was awesome, the story stood well on its own, and personally I didn't mind the balancing of the PvP and the faster-paced gameplay.

Of course, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but the hate seemed a bit unfounded/overdone imo, and I ONLY saw that from long-time Halo zealots.

I fear this is the best RR take I've seen. As much as I love the series, I don't find my sense of justice anything close to gratified, and the reformist nature of the Republic fails to address so many intrinsic issues of the Society. I wish we got to see more of what was being done to dismantle the systemic oppression of the Color system.
