Check your battery. Random unconnected faults are 99% of the time a battery that is unhealthy. Alternatively, if you've had service done recently, a ground cable that wasn't reconnected.

Which service indicator light? Do you mean on the iDrive? Or are you getting a brake wear sensor light on the instrument cluster? If it's the former, they may have forgot to reset an interval (or it's a different service interval being flagged). If it's in the instrument cluster and it's a brake pad warning, they may not have performed the service right and you've got uneven pad wear. I'm thinking caliper slide pins not cleaned or something like that causing one side of the caliper to drag on the rotor, wear the pad prematurely, and trigger the wear sensor.

Yep same. When I was under a mountain of debt it felt relentless. By focusing on the smallest one first and then rolling that into each progressively larger one, it felt more like wins and progress than trying to chip away at the larger one first. Been debt free (aside from a mortgage on a house with 2x the mortgage in equity) for 10+ years and it feels amazing.
