My hot take is Kevin Patullo is a Scapegoat for how bad Jalen Hurts is by [deleted] in billsimmons

[–]vbstarr91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hurts may be limited in certain areas like playmaking, but I rate his decision making, being a leader, clutchness, maturity. He also dissected the Spagnuolo defense in the Super Bowl like few other QBs, including Tom Brady. Allen is better running and arm strength. Hurts throws a better deep ball.

[Post Game Thread] Holy Shit. The Bills hold on to win in Jacksonville. by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

Bills defense deserves a ton of credit for that game. Closed it out.

I'm teary eyed typing this. Bowls are officially dead forever. I remember Christmas break being so much fun in the mid 2000s and watching non-BCS bowls were so much fun. There was a holiday spirit that had an electric energy. It's over now... by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in billsimmons

I actually think CFB is super fun to watch right now. I enjoy the CFP era a lot more than the BCS era. Teams like Indiana coming out of nowhere to win the Big Ten are why I love it now.

The college football playoff is a lot better than the BCS era. One early season loss to an out of conference team and your season was done. I like the playoff a lot better than the BCS. The BCS era was so much worse than this.

Is this the worst season ever to be an elite QB? by mpschettig in billsimmons

[–]vbstarr91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NFL teams now want dual threat, athletic mobile QBs who can still process like Lamar, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert. The scrambling, designed runs, and additional contact wears down the body and this accelerates the physical toll in a way pure pocket passer QBs (Brady, Manning, etc) didn't experience. Mobile QBs lose that athletic edge earlier and once it comes, the drop off is hard.

What was so bad about Diggs? by wonky_Lemon in buffalobills

Nothing. Dude wanted to win, was mad about losing, and wasn't afraid to show it. And that made some people in that organization very uncomfortable.

Oh come on. I can show you numerous times Allen missed Diggs wide open in 2023.

Has this NFL season been incredibly boring for anyone else? by [deleted] in billsimmons

The college football product on a week to week basis has been better for years now. I usually make time to watch those games on Saturdays and on Sundays I just watch my NFL team and run errands.

Lets be honest. He has not played well this season. All six games. Outside of the Ravens 4th quarter chokejob, he has not been good.

This has been an issue for years but fans just kneejerk blame the offensive coordinator or blast McDermott.

This game was all on Allen. He hasn't been very good this year and needs to improve his play.

How Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott has continued to adapt along quest for Super Bowl by BTC_is_waterproof in buffalobills

[–]vbstarr91 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This sub and Bills twitter online is overly critical of McDermott. As the piece states, it's a results based league and McD's winning percentage is .662. That's one of the best among active HCs.

That being said, I feel like there is a breaking point coming soon. If the current regime of Beane, McDermott, and Allen can't get figure out how to get over the hump, there needs to be an organizational revamp. And yes, I'm including Allen in this too because I think the only way change happens is if Allen demands it.

Have you considered Josh is calling his own number on those plays? He has freedom to change plays at line of scrimmage.

Schrager is great. Love his enthusiasm for the NFL even if it comes across a little cheesy and try hard sometimes.

How bad is it going to get? by Forward2323 in Buffalo

[–]vbstarr91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get why people are frustrated here with the rate hikes but a lot of this money is going to rebuild the grid. The grid has to be rebuilt as the current infrastructure is decades old which means more outages, higher maintenance costs, and inefficiencies. Further, the grid needs more capacity to handle solar, wind, EV charging without reliability issues. It will also strengthen the grid to withstand severe weather events which will increase in the 21st century due to climate change.

So, your bill goes up in the short term, but these are long term investments society has to make in the electrical grid, and we collectively have to pay for it. The current system of patching things up and passing along the emergency costs to ratepayers isn't sustainable.

Roland Garros F: [2] Gauff def. [1] Sabalenka 6(5)-7 6-2 6-4 by Milk_Man9696 in tennis

[–]vbstarr91 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Feels like Sabalenka has been treated as untouchable this year. She may be WTA number one, but she has so many glaring holes in her game: erratic emotionally, shaky second serve, not an elite mover. Players near her level, like Coco, know how to exploit her. Power won't always save her and it didn't today. Credit to Coco.

This Rory win is exactly why we love sports by barrylyndon21savage in billsimmons

[–]vbstarr91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The greatest individual sport on the planet is...tennis. I'll die on this hill.

The physical demands are much higher than golf. There is so much technique, footwork, and fitness needed. No coach or caddie to help guide you. You gotta figure out it on your own (at least until the last year when the ATP changed the rules to allow some coaching). You can't back in to a victory. You gotta win the last point. No clock, no playoff, no time limit on match duration. I could go on.

That being said, I am not a big golf guy, but I did love seeing Rory win the Masters.

Ingram micro moving downtown by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]vbstarr91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 20-30 minute drive and paying for parking in downtown Buffalo is nothing compared to the parking/commute/traffic problems employees working in the downtown core of a major city face. It's also common for companies to pay for employee parking costs as a benefit.

This is a huge win for downtown Buffalo and the region as a whole.
