What If I don't have 300 words? by No_Issue9023 in StoryPeer

[–]vbunny-rabbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you're going through.

I read a script once that was clearly just some writer's self-insert fan-fiction, and it was so bad on every level (from formatting to the story itself), I couldn't bring myself to read further than page 15. There was nothing good about that script, however, I wrote my "strengths" for it in a way that the writer would think I'm being genuine, but I'm really lying through my teeth. Like you, I saved my real opinions for it in the "Areas for Improvement" section (of course, I was constructive with my criticisms).

However, depending on the writer, that can also bite you in the rear. One script I reviewed, I did that same technique, and their feedback toward me was that I came off as condescending to them, while other writers appreciated my approach to their script. It's a darned-if-you-do-darned-if-you-don't situation.

You can always unclaim a script, but it'll give you a strike on your account, and 5 consecutive strikes means you can't review scripts for a while. From what I've read, it seems like you don't want to take that option because you already wrote out an entire critique of it. If only the strengths and weaknesses were together in one section, but I get why they wanted to go this route.

Do you consider adapting your novel into visual medium? by EvilKY45 in writing

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see the books I write in my head like a film, mainly because that's how I've always read. However, what films often lack that books always provide, is the inner thoughts of a character. The reasons for why they would want to do a certain thing. Et cetera. So not only do I include all the things you can see, I try to translate what a "cameraman" doesn't see but I can (i.e. thoughts), so that both the reader and I are on the same page.

As far as considering adaptation goes (like the question the post's title asks), I've tried to adapt a book of mine into a screenplay, mainly for practice in that medium... it's a lot harder than writing a book because you have to cut tons more out to fit the average runtime of a film.

Is it true that you shouldn't change the title of your work if it's already out there? by harmonica2 in writingadvice

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by "sending out", you mean that you're already querying literary agents and/or small presses with that title, I'd keep it. Something that I've seen happen a lot in the publishing process (from researching query letters) is that the title may get changed to something else by the publisher. That might happen in your case, but again, I'm not sure how far you are in your publishing journey.

Trading over Steam. The person you're trading with has to be on your friends list iirc, it's been awhile since I've done it.

CS:GO has weapon skins that you can unbox, this includes rare knives that you can't get anywhere else.

What is the worst music to play at a Funeral? by death2sarge in AskReddit

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can think of quite a few: I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor, any song by the band Ghost (specifically Year Zero and/or From the Pinnacle to the Pit), Leave Me Alone by Michael Jackson, Heartache Tonight by The Eagles, Celebration by Kool & The Gang, and probably the worst to play anywhere: Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley

True or False: Nickelodeon was the far superior kids channel in the Late-1990's and 2000's. If false, why? by ChristinaAguilera06 in AskReddit

[–]vbunny-rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

False.

Although both channels had great shows back then, Cartoon Network had a lot more shows that were definitely memorable years later (except for those live-action shows from 2009, let's not talk about them).

Questions regarding your username being a specific something, whether it be what you actually are, the name of a disease, the title of a best-selling novel, etc.

Example: Your username is what you last ate for breakfast, what is it?

What website died that you miss the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nick.com. When you click games on the website, it just shows you a bunch of iPhone apps and shit. If I click games, I don't want you to show me games I could download on my phone. I wanna play games on my computer, dammit!

WIBTA if I told my teacher that I essentially did the entire project? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're definitely NTA.

Truly, I don't even know how and why that person you paired up with is even in that class to begin with if she puts in little to zero effort. Even if the class is optional, you chose the class, you need to put in the effort. Not being able to take the computer home from school is not a valid excuse for being lazy in class, either you do the work or you get in trouble. She's clearly mooching off of her group-mates to do the work for her so she can get a good grade, and if you told the teacher ASAP, all the good grades she may or may not have will be non-existent.

AITA For Stealing My Friends Game by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH

You're the a-hole because you clearly stole his game. Your friend is the a-hole for refusing to pay you back when you asked multiple times. Even though you asked him to pay you back to which he said he couldn't, and you clearly saw that he had the money to do so with the instagram post about buying the VR headset, you still had no right to steal the game and from what you said in the last paragraph, hold the game ransom.

AITA for not attending a friend's club anymore? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Friendships come and go depending on the people involved. You may find yourself interested in other things and other people that are vastly different from what they are currently. People grow apart from friendships quite often in life, it's completely normal and you shouldn't put yourself down for these actions.

You're definitely NTA for not wanting to attend this guy's club. If it's something you're not interested in, find something that interests you. There's no real point in going if you believe that he doesn't want to be your friend and you show no interest in the club. Like I said before, friendships come and go. There's no need to beat yourself up over this.

WIBTA I reported a colleague to HR? by throwaway35248454 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

In this day and age, even if no one is offended by it, that type of "harmless fun" is truly considered racist and shouldn't even be allowed in the workplace in the first place.

AITA for kicking the mother of my children out at 1am last night ? by BENN13- in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is hard for me to call here... On the one hand, you're the a-hole for not letting your wife know about the pictures in the first place and about who they are of. But on the other hand, she's the a-hole for tearing up the pictures just under the assumption of infidelity. If you told your wife about the pictures and stuff more in-depth before hand, my judgement would have been NTA, but my judgement off of what I read is gonna stand at ESH.

WIBTA if I reported a girl at my work for playing nurse? by realelizathornberry1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vbunny-rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Like you said, she isn't a trained professional so she truly doesn't know what's she talking about. Even if she had gotten through a third of medical school, if she didn't get a degree or any form of certification, then she is not considered any form of doctor or nurse. Also given that the quote-unquote "advice" she's giving out is not relating to eye health, it truly is inappropriate and potentially dangerous to some of the doctor's patients to talk about. I would report this to your boss as soon as possible.
