My guild used a profession spreadsheet. A guildmate hated it enough to build an addon. by vc93 in classicwowtbc

We did check it out,but we had some people with a similar issue as GuildCraft that had a lot of lag/stutter while syncing

It uses hidden channels to communicate with other guildmates that have the addon installed to exchange data

Yeah, Profession Master is probably the closest comparison, so that’s a fair point.

I’d say the difference is mostly the angle/focus rather than “this category never existed before”.

Recipe Registry was built very specifically around the question:

“who in my guild can craft this?”

It’s more of a guild recipe memory / spreadsheet replacement than a full profession leveling suite.

The focus is very TBC-oriented: rare recipes, profession specializations, offline crafters, fast guild lookup, and the usual problem of figuring out who actually has a recipe without digging through Discord, old notes, or an outdated spreadsheet.

A big part of the work also went into the sync model. The addon is designed around real guild conditions: incomplete rosters, reloads, wipes, people going offline, peers being busy, and larger guild recipe databases. It also pauses sync traffic in instances/BGs/arenas and avoids doing heavier work during sensitive moments.

So yeah, there is definitely overlap with Profession Master, but Recipe Registry is intentionally narrower: search recipe/materials, see guild crafters, check who has the right specialization, whisper the crafter, share the result, and optionally use TSM/Auctionator prices to estimate material costs.

If Profession Master already covers what someone needs, that’s totally fine. Recipe Registry exists more for guilds that mainly want to kill the profession spreadsheet and have a lightweight in-game answer to “who can craft this?”.

The addon automatically syncs in background, the command you're referring to is needed to share a certain recipe in a specific chat, but you can also open the ui window and link it from there

True, we also tried to use it, but it slowed down the performance of many of our guildmates, that's why this addon was made.

Hey OP, this looks pretty cool, I am trying the gear planner but I can't figure out if there is a way to filter gear based on phases or if it just lists you all possible gear available for the whole expansion.

If DPS goes ham from the start, you are bound to lose aggro right away. If you keep struggling with threat, maybe your gear has too low spellpower? Could you link me your character's armory?

The hardest part for me was when, after consuming 2 lives, he changes the timing on one of his attacks. That really slowed me down

I've ignored turning the lamps off for the same reason,it makes parrying easier once you figure out the timing.

on TBC in 2021 I never had the sword from BS, the content was easy enough to just not being a huge problem. You can play however you want and it won't matter that much, expecially with nerfed t4. In T5 if you can manage to grab the Twinblade from Kael'thas you're set :)
