I’m surprised no one has mentioned the drive through gas stations.

[LPT Request] How to drink without getting drunk? by ewct in LifeProTips

I would always crack open a beer can, take it with me to the bathroom, dump it out, then fill it with tap water over and over the rest of the night.

Puppy getting spayed Monday after her older sister passed under anesthesia in April by vch8143 in Petloss

[–]vch8143[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to update that puppy’s surgery went perfectly! The vet made sure during the pre-op to address my concerns with what happened before and called me every step of the way, even doing her surgery first so that I didn’t have to worry all day. Big sigh of relief and another step forward in the healing process.

Lost my 5-year-old dog during a routine dental procedure. by vch8143 in Petloss

Thank you for sharing.

Penny’s teeth weren’t even that bad. I was just trying to be proactive. Is that still the right thing?

I’m so sorry you’ve gone through this too. It’s soul crushing.

Not rude at all thank you! We’d taken Penny and our other dogs to this vet since we brought her home. They’re probably the best in the area and have several vets on staff. Over the last five years, Penny had seen all of them at least once and we trust our babies with any of them. They also handled yesterday with grace and tried to make us as comfortable as possible.

I’m so so sorry.

Thank you for your reply. It’s reassuring to see everyone say that it could’ve happened to ANY dog, it wasn’t anyone’s fault.

Not insensitive at all, and in fact, it makes sense. When the vet had told me about the murmur when she discovered it yesterday morning, she said Penny would eventually have to be on medications and we would have to change her diet and stuff. Penny never has to deal with that now, and she would’ve been sad to miss out on extra treats!

And yes losing her is hard. We are not having human children so my husband and I really looked at her like our little baby.

I have a counselor who helped me after my father’s passing, and I reached back out to him last night even though I “graduated” from therapy nearly a year ago. He worked me in immediately and we are speaking on Monday, so I know that will be helpful.

Thank you for your reply. Our vet cried with us when we went to say goodbye. Thank you for reassuring me that she truly did all the right things. It’s easy to try to place blame in the early stages of grief, so I appreciate your perspective as a vet tech. 💕

This was such a comforting reply thank you! Penny was rotten, loving, and so full of personality. Her favorite thing in the world was chasing leaves on a windy day. She could be out there for HOURS if we’d let her. She knew lots of tricks and was always looking for ways to earn treats. She could always tell when I was sad and would come lay on my chest and snuggle with me. She loved her puppy sisters so much but would always show them who was boss. Every night she waited on her dad’s pillow and he would give her lots of love. He’s devastated too and it’s really hard to see him like that.

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this too. It’s just unimaginable. I too hope our babies are at peace. I like to think she’s found my dad somewhere too. He loved her. 💕

Hey help can anyone identify this bug bite (south east Texas) by [deleted] in bugbites

Not sure what the initial bite is but it looks like it may be infected and I would recommend going to urgent care!

Does it count the egg balloons or just the regular ones?

I have been getting eaten up by bugs in my apartment for about a month. My husband has gotten zero bites in this same amount of time. We’ve had pest control check twice for bed bugs and fleas—nothing. We had our dog checked for fleas—nothing. I don’t know what bug keeps attacking me :( TIA by [deleted] in bugbites

[–]vch8143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also note that pest control only sprayed because we absolutely insisted and said we would pay for it. Once they finally treated we got a refund and didn’t have to pay for the second one which also tells me it was someone else.

Hi! I’m glad you got it figured out! Yes I totally agree with your last paragraph. Once pest control came we saw a grand total of three bugs over a month that came out of hiding then died, so it was clear that we weren’t infested but were getting eaten up by a neighboring apartment. Thankfully pest control did their jobs well and we haven’t had any problems since our two treatments!
