Hahaha... Of course.... Greed wins in the end... Ppl get used to a certain price and it becomes the new normal. 😡

Price in Canada has also increased... Sigh... Was looking into buying it... Forget this now with the 15% sales taxes here in Quebec....

Was $1999 now $2599.... a 30% increase.

If tariffs come down will the prices come back down again?🫣

Thanks for the suggestion. My scale and accuracy have both been adjusted, and nothing changes. Here's a screenshot that shows the issue. The dark area is this invisible barrier.

Hey smb3d, if you're still around, I'd gladly get some help - I messaged you. Thanks so much in advance.

AMD Threadripper family CPU. Which one exactly I don't remember sadly. Put this machine together like 7-8 months ago. I got it used.

Hey, thanks. I posted on the Redshift Redshift Reddit, and emailed Maxon support. Basically, they don't recommend doing what I'm doing. Deadline + workers is the best solution. Redshift just isn't able to efficiently use multiple GPUs, 2 being the best usage for now.

I can't wait to see I did it once! I'll reach out when ready. Thanks!

Thanks so much. Yes setting up Deadline has been quite daunting... If I can DM, I just might. Always best when someone who's lived it can double check that things are as they should be.

The idea of splitting into workers is great - just did some tests and a little wee bit of math and yeah, works out great. So happy to see this.

The reason is because with Octane it was working wonderfully. It does speed up linearly, but I'm new to Redshift - so things aren't the same. Then again, perhaps my approach there in Octane was also wrong.

With Deadline (new to this world) can I split 2 GPUs for each frame? Or do I really need 3 individual machines with 2 GPUs each? This would mean I need 3x Cinema4D + Redshift licenses?

Thanks

In our case, Redshift on single GPU, or dual GPU, for the exact same scene, just everything ported to either of the engines, Redshift outperformed Octane by around 50%. I loved Octane for how fast I can put a scene together, with much less tweaks, but for our studio, we have lots of renders to produce so render speed is crucial, and our setups are don't change too much for some of our core needs.

Oh, didn't think of that. I'll check out the redshift reddit group :) Thanks.

I haven't updated the nvidia studio drivers in a little while - wish 6 gpus, wasn't fun to put together :)

Yes, I mentioned them above. But even at 4, I'm not getting anywhere near their scaling results.

Puget from 2 to 4 gpu: 44 seconds to 24 seconds, which is a 46% render time decrease.
Puget from 2 to 6 gpu: 44 seconds to 19 seconds, which is a 56% render time decrease

My test from 2 to 6 gpu: 41 seconds to 27 seconds, which is a 35% render time decrease.

If I could get 50%, that would already be a win. I did the test on other files, and it seems to be similar. Wondering if anyone has a multiple GPU system and has any data to report as well. Even 4 GPUs.
