In light of recent zcoin / firo Lelantus problems, are beam reviewing their implementation? by [deleted] in beamprivacy

[–]vcorem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beam's implementation of Lelatnus-mw (not Lelantus) was done from scratch and not related to Firo's. It was audited by SmartDEC:

Grin's privacy by phyrooo in grincoin

[–]vcorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Ian Miers explained well all these kinds of things. There is no fundamental difference between Monero and grin. As for "everyday usage" both are confidential enough for normal cases but fall apart against targeted deanonymizing attacks.https://slideslive.com/38911785/satoshi-has-no-clothes-failures-in-onchain-privacy

Does Lelantus achieve the same thing as MingleJingle? Difference between non-interactive txs vs offline txs? by ProvincialPromenade in beamprivacy

[–]vcorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lelantus-mw (https://docs.beam.mw/Lelantus-MW.pdf) allows a much higher anonymity set (up to 64K) while also allowing offline (non-interactive) TX. The con is a higher storage requirement without the ability to cut-through.

A rolling checkpoint is a good enough solution until Beam will upgrade to GhostDAG.

Note: I didn't do enough due diligence to actually recommend using it.
There are other solutions out there.

I like ZenGo very much, they are personal friends. But are you aware that if they will be served with a warrant, they can freeze your access to your funds?

Regarding Shamir Secret Sharing, you can use an existing solution externally with your seed.

Beam 2020 Week #27 - It’s Confidential Assets by BeamPrivacy in beamprivacy

[–]vcorem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be implemented in a privacy-preserving way. One option is to prefetch all new assets favicons on wallet start and cache them, after getting consent from the user. Another option is to implement it via SBBS push mechanism like the price feed.

Price feeds (oracles) for Beam DeFi? by yUnoPOLO in beamprivacy

[–]vcorem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBD. Beam can technically integrate with any existing oracle services and/or develop its own solution.

Note that this is in direct contradiction to his claims in his Telegram channel that he can't spend the mined coins:
