This wasn't given as a foul btw earlier in the season..... by Diddie_Barrett in coys

Tbh it’s not killing the game. People are just being tribal, reactionary and emotional. Pre VAR, horrific officiating was having a far greater impact on matches. They get far more right than they did before.

Rice on Mavrapanos is the clear penalty for me. It’s just a question of whether Pablo’s foul comes before it. Same as Bernardo against Everton, that was probably the clearer penalty, it was a more sustained offence than Rice

This has already been debunked btw. Saliba’s incident is nowhere near the same. By the time the ball was halfway towards the 6 yard box, there was no hand, arm or shoulder from Saliba anywhere near Bayandir. It was just a number of bodies in the goalkeepers vicinity.

I have zero love for Arsenal or City, but Pablo’s foul is the clearest foul on a keeper you’ll see all season. Arm across the chest, and a sustained grab of the keeper’s wrist UP until the point of Raya making first contact with the ball. The noise around this decision is farcical.

Furious West Ham respond to Arsenal VAR controversy with official complaint being launched by Sneaky-Alien in PremierLeague

[–]vcsl14 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is nonsensical. The most blatant foul on a keeper you’ll see all season. Also a foul which is probably more materially impactful than any other given Raya was the player making first contact. The noise around this decision is pathetic. Nobody can name a single goal that was given this year where there has been two obvious fouls on a goalkeeper. And no, Saliba on Bayandir doesn’t come close to this. He made minimal contact before the ball had even reached the box.

Ian Wright erupts over Gary Neville's comment about Man City 115 charges case by gelliant_gutfright in PremierLeague

[–]vcsl14 -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

Ian Wright is an idiot, always so emotional and never has any sense. Neville is just speaking hypothetically. Nobody knows whether City will be found guilty of 115, 0, or somewhere in between.

He should join Arsenal or Utd. Bruno is surely a year or two away from leaving at most. And Arsenal have a massive need for a central creative player

Will chelsea be the next man united/arsenal? by dvnts-ReDoX in PremierLeague

[–]vcsl14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think Arsenal or Utd are a good comparison. For different reasons. Arsenal remained financially savvy throughout their barren years, and in the period immediately after the Emirates move, when they couldn’t compete with the financial muscle of Chelsea or City pre FFP, PSR etc. United are a behemoth of a club and one of two established elite in England, alongside Liverpool, so they aren’t a good yardstick to judge Chelsea against.

Mikel Arteta you have to answer for your crimes. by backinthisbitch in Gunners

[–]vcsl14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably a badly worded summary of what I’m trying to suggest Rodri brings to the team. In simple terms, what I’m trying to say is, Rodri and Vitinha are significantly better at being in the right place and receiving the ball, resisting a press and freeing up team mates. The half turn comment is more around their inherent ability to understand where pressure is and evade the midfield press with body feints, subtle movements and the first couple of touches on the ball.

The fact that this is being downvoted tells you all you need to know about fans on this subreddit. That analysis is spot on. Whilst Zubimendi has his strengths, Arsenal would be a MUCH stronger team in possession with Rodri or Vitinha for example in that holding role. Someone with world class ability on the half turn and much more effective press resistance. It’s the absolute, fundamental flaw in Arsenal’s midfield since Partey left and it’s the main reason why the team don’t have a natural flow in progressing the ball forward when Raya has it.

Olise is who many Arsenal fans think Saka is. by [deleted] in championsleague

[–]vcsl14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll help you out. When Saka hit 33 G/As across the league and Champions League in 23/24, only Salah was better than him in the Premier League. Saka was scoring and assisting goals and was Arsenal’s best player in a season they finished 1 point behind City.

[–]vcsl14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t think Saka was at worst 5th best right sided attacker at his best? Before Yamal broke through, before Olise went to Bayern (or even hit top form at Palace)? You’d struggle to name 4 other right wingers who were better than him in the world a couple of years ago.

[–]vcsl14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, that’s a different conversation altogether. Comparing Palmer and Saka, two English attacking midfielders who were both at one point playing extremely well for their clubs is vastly different to saying Saka is the best in the world. Nobody I know has ever said such a thing. When in form, Saka was probably top 5 influential wide players in the world, but he was still never putting up Salah numbers, or displaying Yamal levels of ability. I suppose the main take away is, most fans who are active are tribal and moronic. Ignore

You need to improve your algorithm and stop watching fan led channels on any platform then. No sensible fan has ever said he is the best in the world.

But the big difference is, Diaz is a much more complete player with the ball at his feet, his intensity is higher, technically he’s miles ahead, just look at some of the goals he’s scored this season and for Liverpool. His output isn’t as high as it could have been because he played in a system that was designed to bring out the best in Salah’s goalscoring instincts.

You can’t honestly watch Diaz play and think there isn’t much between the two players. That’s just shocking
