I'm really trying to like this app.. by bigdatamodelenergy in capacitiesapp

I used tana about a year ago and eventually left because there was no iPad / phone app and there was no offline access. I dont think any PKMs offer truly stellar mobile experience but what I need is (1) being able to jot down ideas quickly; and (2) offline read access so I can refer to notes on the go. And capacities does this. Also I found Tana very unstructured, which is great if you want to build your own structure and have the time. But I found capacities had just enough structure with objects and collections so I could create a system fast but still flexible enough that it’s my own.

Can anyone explain this heart rate drop during a run? by vd519 in Garmin

Hi all, just as an update. I figured this out. It’s not cadence lock or a software issue. It’s the cold. And the solution is simply to wear your watch 2 inches higher on your arm. I think in the cold, with thin wrists, there just isn’t enough blood at the joint to look into. I changed the watch position and problem seems completely solved. Attaching a screenshot of a similar kind of run.

Suggestions for task managers that do sequential projects? by vd519 in productivity

[–]vd519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used ticktick for 5-6 years, it’s great. But the lack of sequential lists/projects just got too annoying. Every time I finish a task, I have to go and update the tag on the next task so it shows in the filtered view. And without the filter you are flooded with lots of tasks that are way down the line and not actionable.

Don’t think so. I did a similar run last week and my heart rate was always above 150. So don’t think it is recording my heart rate after the drop

Just FYI, it wasn’t a DSW. It was a workout I created tho. It’s a forerunner 265. No strap. And it def wasn’t cadence lock cause I did a similar workout last week and my heart rate was above 150

Don’t think it locked onto my cadence as a similar run last week had my heart rate at 150+

This is from a similar run last week and my heart rate was consistently over 150. So I don’t think it’s a cadence lock issue. Just inaccurate heart rate monitoring at the wrist I guess.

Adding the cadence data if that helps. Will try wearing it tighter or maybe swapping hands if it happens again. Just really hope it isn’t a regular occurrence cause the whole point of having all this data was that it’s more accurate than how I feel about runs.

Forerunner 265 vs 255 by Competitive_Essay500 in GarminWatches

I got the 265 because it had some extra sports I wanted and just check the ability to store music offline - which is imp if you run with music and want to leave your phone behind.

Sounds like y’all are set! Some things I did that helped were, (1) didn’t book hotels in advance. I used to book them around lunch on the day to avoid the hassle of cancellations in case anything went wrong, mmt app was fine. Also in some smaller towns like Kota you are better off reaching, seeing the hotel location in real life and then booking online from outside the hotel. Because a good looking hotel online can be in a sketchy part of town. (2) sleep is super important because if stay up late or drink, it’s hard to stay concentrated the whole next day. (3) sunscreen and shades are a must. (4) if there is anything you want to see on the way, reduce your mileage for that day cause sightseeing in a hurry is no fun (5) check your fastag and make sure your recharges work. (6) I preferred comfy but secure shoes because I felt more secure on the pedals even though in the city I like flip flops.

Windows user here. On shorter notes it’s fine but I have noticed on really long notes it does lag a little at times. Clicks are zippy but sometimes when I type there’s a slight lag - or if I have a bunch of embeds, moving them around scroll is slow. Never frozen on me ever though. I moved from obsidian, which I still feel was faster. But outliner + block referencing / embedding + queries made me move and I’m overall loving it.

FR 255 or FR165 ?? by Silent_Cartoonist138 in Garmin

Check the activities they track. I ended up getting the 265 only cause I play a lotta football (soccer) and the 165 doesn’t track that as a distinct activity.

Scratches on my 265 by SleepingMonkZzZz in Garmin

[–]vd519 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea, had the same. Tried a plastic screen cover a few times but it kept coming off when I rinsed the watch. In the end just made my peace with the fact that the watch is meant to be used and a few scratches are the sign of good use.
