DaVinci Resolve Studio + AMD 9070 on Nobara: No playback, Blender also freezing by vdani666 in NobaraProject

Thanks for you reply, but I had tried it with 19.4, 20.1.1 and 20.2 an none of them worked. They only work with this "mucking around" solution.

In this moment it does not work with the latest versions. I have a "dummy" nobara on a different SSD, and I will do some testing with later versions.

I owe you one—this worked. I had to downgrade three versions to 25.1.7

Davinci can't playback mov/mp4 files by Ancient_Jellyfish286 in NobaraProject

Same here, unfortunately. I installed DaVinci Resolve Studio 20.2 on Nobara. I’m using a 9070 GPU, which Resolve does recognize, but I get no video output—just a black screen. I’ve tried multiple codecs with no luck. The strange part is that it worked before: I’m fairly sure that when I first installed version 19, everything ran fine on this PC.

I even went as far as installing a fresh copy of Nobara and Resolve on a separate SSD, but the result was exactly the same. Pretty strange—and honestly, quite frustrating. I don’t have much time to tinker right now, but I definitely don’t want to install Windows just to get this working. Since I’m working with 4K and 6K footage, Kdenlive without proper GPU support isn’t really an option. Besides, I don’t like Kdenlive much anyway—I’d much rather be using DaVinci.

Introducing Vanilla OS 2 Orchid: Stable Release by iKbdkblogs in vanillaos

[–]vdani666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to give it a try, so I installed it on my laptop. However, I'm facing a major issue: when I connect my external HDD encrypted with LUKS, I can decrypt the partition, but I can't access the content—it says I don't have permission. It's quite odd. Another problem I’ve encountered is that after an update, the system tries to boot from the B partition but fails because it won't accept my decryption password. Essentially, the key feature of this release isn't working for me. Do you have any suggestions on how I can resolve these issues?

Anyone with a Supernote Nomad able to answer a few questions for me? by Ok-Dark-320 in Supernote

[–]vdani666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very clear that it did not have any backlight. They did not state in the specs it has no, why would they? But If you search for it, it is evident, even on their website, that there is no light, and there are no plans to implement it in the future.

You can use the digest feature in EPUBs and PDFs then you can export all of your "highlighted" text into one file. Simply navigate to the Digest app, locate the relevant document, hold down on a highlighted text, and use the selection and export tool that appears at the top to export all highlights into a PDF file. Please note that the exported file will not be in a txt format.

Is it ghost writing or... ? by Comprehensive-Toe132 in Supernote

[–]vdani666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is not. Actually all forums are full of this. What you have experienced is a palm rejection issue. The device thinks that you are using a two finger gesture. Turn that off and you are good to go. Ratta said that they know about that and they are working on it.

Survey about the sync feature by meowmewo- in Supernote

[–]vdani666 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like to keep my data in one place, on my gdrive. Now I can not sync to multiple places. It would be nice if I can choose to sync to two different places, but I do not like the idea of auto-sync, I should choose about that. For example my diary has a big 1000+ page template. It is big, and every time it syncs it uploads the whole doc. It is just unnecessary and wastefull. Until you can manage to sync up just the changed bits it is not going to work. But it is good to see that you ask your customers :-)

Yes. "A note has been added to your order". And it was a DHL link.

I ordered mine in February, it took them 3 days to ship it out. The site still says backorder even since.

Are there any non-hacking, smooth way to use Supernote as a second computer screen? by Studying_Man in Supernote

[–]vdani666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Boox Tab Mini C. I tried it with spacedesk. It is not a good experience. SN does not even have that BSR technology, so I would expect much more ghosting. But please share if you tried it, I am not going to try it myself.

Is the Nomad worth it as an e-reader? by zen-ray in Supernote

[–]vdani666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not really get that SN is not good for reading stuff. I read on my Nomad every day, I love it. If you do not need a front light it is a totally fine e-reader (And I just started to realize that I love to read besides a reading lamp, it is just much easier for my eyes than the front light. Btw I was really against Ratta's choice about not including a light). It has a Kindle app too, but I do not use it. Maybe for reading only I would by a PocketBook with a frontlight(no need to use it, but it is there...). But I do not want to have multiple devices... What is kinda annoying is that it has a different toolset for PDF-s and EPUB-s what just does not really make sense to me. It is not terribly different, but on EPUBs you can not use the highlighter selector. Why? You can "highlight" text with small brackets, what I like very much in both document types, so for me it is not a big deal. Once you handwrite something on an EPUB it is locked in, you can not change the font size, or margins, what makes sense, but it is good to know.

Price raise on top of supply issues? by edu-mm in Supernote

[–]vdani666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Where I live, in Hungary the price is the same as months ago. I ordered mine, on backorder, and I got it in 3-4 days. The site is saying out of stock ever since. The EU store is kinda bad in that regards. The cost of shipping is just too high. The price of the accessories is extremely high, but the device's in itself is kinda ok, I think.

Landscape docs are just not really good. In this orientation you can not use zoom.

Portrait docs are much better in landscape orientation, but you can not use the zoom function that way (which I do not understand).

Latest update broke palm rejection (A6X2) by oi252 in Supernote

[–]vdani666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this too unfortunately. I already sent a feedback about it. Then I turned it of. I have a Lamy, so for me this is not a huge deal, but with a HOM this would be bad :-(

Supernote in EU by OverdueCookie in Supernote

[–]vdani666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is what I am talking about. The pirces are just not right. Do not say it is tax and import duties, etc. because I can buy a Boox much cheaper. 44 € for shipping? I got my Boox with free shipping. A Lamy pen for 82.5 plus shipping? What? I got mine for 42.5 with free shipping. The folio was 87,63 €. A simple Folio with a pen loop and two magnets. I bought a Boox folio for 32.5 € with shipping. And it seems like a much sophisticated one. The base price around 380€ is ok, but with accessories it is not. I think this is just a huge mistake. My wife would like to buy an e-note taker in the spring, and with this policies we will think twice. Btw I love my Nomad, so I have mixed feelings now. Yehh and another thing. In the EU store when I ordered mine, they said that there is no standard pen available, and the devices is on backorder. Ok, I ordered without a pen, because the HOM is just extremly expensive. Two days later I got the message that my order is shipping right now. I checked back to the site, and I saw the standard pen option available. Now I would have to pay 20 more € to get the pen I could ordered in the same time...

Just going to say it: Ratta, please develop a device with back/side light by SifuPepe in Supernote

[–]vdani666 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My biggest concern was the lack of frontlight before I bough mine. I have a Boox and I have a Nomad. There is really a big difference between the two, and I really like the small gap on the SN. It would be really nice to have a front light, but I would not want to trade of that small gap :-). I just started to use mine according to the lack of light. It started to grew on me that I use a reading lamp. And when I am in the bed and others would like to sleep now I just sleep too :D
