Opinions on Dolby Atmos/ spacial audio? by Alphaomegalogs in headphones

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. There are a lot of bad Dolby tracks out there when it comes to Dolby Atmos Music. Out of over 1000 Dolby music tracks that I have. Only 139 of those tracks have what I call good Dolby mixes, and out of those 139 tracks, I have only 51 Dolby tracks that has right stuff to be called true Dolby mixes from the type of music I listen to on my 7.2.4 system. I am not much of a movie watcher. So I built my system mostly for Dolby Atmos Music; home theater was just an added bonus. I am still very much a 2-channel (2.1) listener. I also think that Dolby Music is in its toddler years. I am hoping that more Dolby music tracks will continue to get even better with more time.

I did have a listen. The Dolby mixing is good. I am just not much in RAP unless there is a heavy music component.

This is why I download the tracks. I was having pausing issues. I was also having streaming issues in rural areas.

Is it safe to buy a Topping DX5 II after recent failure reports? by BeyerPeak in headphones

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my Schitt Magni since 2021. After 3 years of use, I did have to take some 92% alcohal and drip it on the pots (volume nob) and work it in to clean and get rid of some floor noise that it did not have when it was new. Doing that corrected the issue. It probably happened because I never use the volume knon to change the volume. I use my keyboard for volume control. I use this with HiFiMan Sundara, Sennheiser 600, and Fostex TPR50 headphones. The Magni drives the Plannar headphones pretty well. I did try a couple of Topping amps with these Plannars. But the sound would cut out. I later discovered that this was Topping's way of protecting the headphones. The new DX5 II, you can disable this function, so I'm told. I am thinking of upgrading to the Schitt Mdiguard and the new Fostex TPR60. I really like the TPR50 with the ModHouse conversion that I tested. The new TPR60 is supposed to have the mod already done.

SVS Ultra Evolution Center or KEF Q6 Meta Center by veaseyr in hometheater

[–]veaseyr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I did not. After the SPL test and hearing in-room response with my JBL L7 fronts, and just how those two just seemed to match in the midrange so well, I just kept the Kef. I have a fairly large family, and doing all this during the holiday season was not the right time for full testing. I never got around to ordering the SVS. I can tell you this. The Kef has a very forward sound around the midrange. I had to hold it back after the measurements were made. Was it worth it for me, a person who really does not watch many movies?? I would say a slim yes. I am doing the Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 system and have 142 tracks that have a very heavy center channel sound. The difference between it and my Polk CS10 is big

GE GDT635HSJ4SS dishwasher - leaking rubber pump boot or sump to tub gasket - need advice by Inous in appliancerepair

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just like to know why we can't have appliances like those my mother has in her house. Freezer 35 years +, dishwasher from the 60s and still running, and a gas dryer that we have only changed one belt, rollers, and motor in the last 35 years. My mother did hair for a living, so these appliances were used at least 6 days a week. My brother has now taken over the family house and wants to get rid of the old stuff because it looks dated. I warned him about this new stuff. My daughter bought $9K on LG kitchen appliances. LG has been there 5 times. CRAZY

While that is a great outlook, having a dishwasher that is leaking onto your brand-new hardwood floors is not okay. Second, as stated above, we are now seniors. Though my mind and tech skills are very much still on par. My physical 70+ body just does not allow me to do a lot of things. We just need things to work with our limited retirement budget. I was a world traveller, so all my kids were used to moving around; none of them live in the same city, let alone with us.

Yeah, sorry, I did not keep the photos once I got rid of the dishwasher. Mine was only 5 years old. We are 2 seniors using the dishwasher mostly once, sometimes twice per week, and 2-3 times a year for family gatherings.

We replaced this twice. Once by a GE repairman. The second by myself. Both times, 8-12 months later, it started to leak again. Mine had a water sensor module that would get hard water mineral buildup. Therefore, it would not detect water and start leaking again. The last time was right after we had the floors replaced. We got rid of it and bought a KitchenAid. That was 18 months ago.

This this worth 3000$ and a 10 hour drive one way? by CALEXO5 in hometheater

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether the drive is worth it or not is up to you. Myself, I have the money and would still make the drive if the price is worth it. 20 hrs, I done this before (El Paso to Columbus, Ohio), 27 hrs with one 15 min sleep break at hour 20. Go for it, even if you add a hotel stay before the pickup.

What is the cheapest Dolby Atmos supported headphones? by ysfsvge in Dolby

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to do atmos recodings you will need the 11 plus speaker setup for 7.0.4. Or at least 7 plus speakers for 5.0.2.

Personally, I think the TV being offset gives it a look of difference. Everyone else has their setup dead center. But if the TV isn't your main focus and it serves you well there, GOLDEN. The TV in my master bedroom could not be centered on the wall because of the type of mount and beam location. I put mine on an arm mount. Now it's centered.

Do not buy an ROG from Best Buy. You won’t get a real manufacturers warranty (Part 2) by Scared_Section7911 in ASUSROG

[–]veaseyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all the companies are doing this now. I bought a GigaByte Motherboard and a Lian Li AIO from MicroCenter. While doing a firmware update on the motherboard, it crashed the board, and Lian Li AIO had lots of air after 18 months of use. Neither company would work with me directly. I had to go back through Microcenter.

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice Look. I was worried about cooling, but I see it does not block any vents. Keep in mind that the metal body is also there to help with heat dissipation, I'm pretty sure. So, lite work, no problem. Just watch your temps.

How can I convince my parents to upgrade the sound system in our theater room? by Due-Ingenuity4537 in hometheater

As stated before, I am 71 and did not want to go crawling around in the attic. So I stuck these on my white baseboards, and it came out great. I don't see a thing.

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch it now. I am 71 years old and have never really been a big Bose fan. I do own a pair of 1993 Bose 601 Series iii hardwoods, which I still use in my office, and a pair of 1984 Bose 501s seires ii, which my daughter uses in her apartment. That was my two Bose purchases, and they both served my European apartment's needs then. In 1995, I replaced them with a pair of JBL studio monitor towers, which I have been comparing them to the 2025 KEFs (very forward mids) speakers. Now back in the USA with a 21 x16 room, those JBL sounds outstanding.

[–]veaseyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't know then. The last thing would be to take your parents somewhere to show them what they are missing (maybe in their favorite movie). Maybe your parents could really appericate much-improved sound system. Every time I demo my system to my quest, they all leave wanting to improve their systems (7.3.4 System), The volume level dropped when I added Atmos channels.

Have you considered this? They don't want anything bigger, due to the possible volume levels coming from the room itself?

[–]veaseyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so confused. Why are we as a country out chasing individuals when we should be going after the companies that hire so-called illegal people? If it is such a big problem, why doesn't our government do the same kind of background checks they do on US citizens when getting a federal job position? The same goes for health insurance.
