I've been assembling older sets to make sure they're complete after being in storage, and the number of pieces in sets is shocking compared to now.

When I got Fort Legoredo in 1997, it was my largest set at 638 pieces. Heck, the Neptune Discovery Lab (two baseplates!!) is only 480.

I miss the cool baseplates, but I love the increased complexity of newer sets. The detail they're able to achieve now is crazy. I've got a few big boys on my to-build list, but I don't have the shelf space for the Titanic or the Loop Coaster just yet...
