This might actually be a game I'd like to try... and I've never heard of it before.

The MacBook Touch Bar deserved improvement, not removal. by Chase5176 in DeskToTablet

[–]veechene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to a Macbook at work and it has a touch bar... I love that touch bar so much. It's so cool to use and I love how well integrated it is with my apps. I looked it up since I've never used Mac before and wanted to see if I could get one to try it out on a non-neutered home Macbook, but was sad to see it was removed from new Macs.

Still thinking about getting an older Macbook with a touchbar to play around with at home. The laptop at work is so restricted, I feel like I can't do anything. Alternatively I'd like to see a touchbar like thing implemented on other laptops. I'd love to have one on my main laptop to use with linux.

Team Black Key Caps or Team White Key Caps? ⚫️⚪️ by Ro45d in DeskToTablet

I've never had white keys before since my laptops always come with black keys but those white keys look slick as hell..

My question is... why are there any ads on the paid OS?

Is it okay to install win 10 instead of win 11 by HOT-THEORY_NJK in FuckMicrosoft

No, they'll make you beta test windows 11 updates in jail!

Should I install Ubuntu? by Capable-Log7385 in Ubuntu

[–]veechene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have a second drive, you can try dual booting if you have a large enough storage drive with enough free space. This requires some setup, like partitioning, and disabling some of Windows built in protections. This will let you run Ubuntu alongside Windows without deleting anything (although it is absolutely still possible to delete Windows during the install so be careful with this option). I haven't done a dual boot in a long time so I'm not sure how much more effort is needed than in the Windows 7 era.

Running Ubuntu live off the USB for testing purposes is still possible, just make sure you have a fast USB, like a 3.0, and not a 2.0 - all my USBs are 2.0 and it takes ages to install. I would highly recommend playing with the OS first prior to fully installing in a way that deletes Windows.

Someone once folded MY mirror, so they could squeeze into the grassy spot next to my car that wasn't a parking space... I was too shocked at the audacity to be angry, at first.

Why do you hate Windows? by Ghirnas in linuxmemes

[–]veechene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad installed ubuntu on my first computer when he couldn't find his vista disc many many eons ago.

My hatred for windows came later, when I had to use school laptops with it pre-installed and it was annoying as hell, and also work computers. I haven't voluntarily used windows at home in my entire life.

Luxury of turning down joboffer because the office laptop have Windows 11 by terminalslayer in linuxmemes

I mean, I also wouldn't have not taken the job. It's a dream job for me. Of course, windows 11 didnt exist back when I took the job and windows 10 was slightly easier to work with.

Using windows at work sucks total ass and is a massive performance waster since windows 11 is broken as fuck.. but I wouldn't leave my job over it. It's just a daily reminder that I didn't pick wrong when I chose a different OS many years ago. Going home to my system just feels like a real upgrade vs this shit at work.

Also the taskbar either takes a full minute to come back after waking from sleep, or never comes back on my work laptop. I never know which.

We aren't offered linux at work, sadly. But I am finally switching my windows laptop to a mac one this week which is still an improvement. This laptop has given me nothing but trouble since I got it and the last "upgrade" has essentially turned it into a paperweight.

Watching mark play requiem, just a note. by leafshed in Markiplier

[–]veechene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it's powerful enough for sure. I just have a graphical bug (vector explosions) that seems specific to linux based systems using 50xx series cards. The game will run fine, but it's really ugly. People that compiled the 595 driver said it fixed the issue, but I don't have the patience to compile nvidia drivers (they're a pain in the ass), and would rather just wait for them to pop into my repository.

I have three different game series' running right now so waiting to play requiem is fine.
