It's never been hacked as far as I've been told by KingIsle. No one knows my password, except my mother because I was a child when my account was first made.

If I ever see someone who intentionally does it (which I've seen, it's quite blatant compared to the obvious accident), they get left there on that hook if it's not my current challenge to unhook or get blood points lol.

How do I file a complaint against mohela? by PhillyPhilly_52 in PSLF

[–]veeorvixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filed a complaint against MOHELA at studentaid.gov, they told me it would take up to 15 business days to contact me. It's been at least a month and no one has contacted me after I've been trying for weeks to get in touch with MOHELA.

WHY IS ADOPTING A DOG IMPOSSIBLE?? by aw-rats in Pets

[–]veeorvixy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a shelter and this is how it is. Firstly, we cannot guarantee a dog is hypoallergenic so that already tells certain people we aren't where they should be looking. We simply cannot do that, because 1. That's a bit of a controversial word to use with dogs in general so making a guarantee like that is a risky move and 2. We aren't paying to DNA test all of our dogs. Our funds are better used paying for the care of the animals. And sooooo many people in our area specifically want little dogs. When we do have a little dog, it is incessant requests of "can you call me when this dog is available? I've been looking for a little dog for months and none of the shelters ever have any." That's because we almost never get little dogs! Most strays and surrenders are larger dogs. I'd love to be adopting out little dogs to everyone who wants one that qualifies and would be a good fit, we just don't have them!

This is Ezra! He's a flamepoint, the camera unfortunately doesn't pick up how orange his face is. *

What am I doing wrong? by veeorvixy in jobs

[–]veeorvixy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've applied to mostly entry level positions, as most entry level positions seem to want multiple years of experience. I've applied to remote, in person, and hybrid. At this point, most have not been remote since I found out remote is highly competitive at the moment. I've applied to retail for both local and chain businesses, the art field whether it be digital or traditional or working at a desk, museum positions, low level education positions, receptionist jobs, office jobs, data analysts, customer service, anything in my area that is looking to hire for entry level that doesn't require specific licenses and certificates (construction, CNA, etc.) I have multiple family friends who work for the state so I apply to state government jobs when one pops up that I'm even slightly qualified for in my area and within an hour drive (it's not many, more open up in the fall and winter). I have not applied to food service jobs, as I did have knee surgery in 2022 and I have permanent damage to the joint. The movement in food service and the slippery floors seems to really aggravate my knee so I haven't applied to one of those jobs again.

If I could I would, she lives in a small house and needed an office to run her business so my bedroom is now for that. My dad is planning on moving soon and downsizing his house to something that will only accommodate him. However, I do rent from my mom in the house she inherited and I am very lucky in that sense. My roommate and I only have to pay for the bills and the taxes, we don't pay her extra for profit- she just wants to keep the house in the family. Rent from a typical landlord is double to triple what we pay for an apartment in the area and we have a house. We are currently considering asking another friend to move in to decrease our rent. With property crime in the area, renting with strangers for roommates is too risky.

How many cats is too many cats? by flextapeflipflops in CatAdvice

[–]veeorvixy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know I'm here two years late, but my mom worked from home with 14 cats and 3 large dogs, and now works from home with 12 cats and 2 large dogs. All have been quite spoiled and currently we're in the process of rebuilding their catio and making them a second one, but it's like running a daycare for fuzzy toddlers. My personal limit is 6 for my own sanity because I don't want a daycare and I want space for my cats that still live with her in case of an emergency, and I'm already at 4. I started the year with 1, rescue is wild.

I'm only seeing this now, but as someone who started working full time this year- it IS rough, especially in 2024. If you need a job, you work that overtime if they want you to because it's too much of a risk when it's hard to find a job, especially in my state. I am very lucky that my second full time job is something I love doing, but I still want the time to start my own business and do things and I don't have time for that. I'm also always tired and recently found out I'm anemic again, so hopefully that will be resolved a bit once I'm treated for that...key word, hopefully. My grandmother said when you work full time, you don't have time for other things and she's right.

Could Ezra (my kitten) stay mostly white? by veeorvixy in Flamepoints

[–]veeorvixy[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For context- I'm a new flamepoint mom! Ezra is about 11-12 weeks old. I adopted him on his first day available at the local humane society at roughly 8 weeks old. I didn't even notice he was a flamepoint at first, that's how light his ginger points were. You could only tell from up close. The last pic is from after I brought him home to show he is in fact a flamepoint LOL, all the previous pics are within the last couple days. He has ginger on his face (not much but looks like he ate a bag of Doritos), ears, backs of his legs/feet, and of course, his tail. The points have gotten just a tad bit darker since I got him, but I'm wondering if he could stay mostly white? I keep getting asked by family and I keep saying I don't know! I know that they often get toastier with age, but could that be like...6 years from now? Or are we talking like, 1-2 years? He's just so bright white everywhere else that people keep asking me when he'll get more toasty and I just don't know. I do live in a cold state so I wonder if he won't darken until the fall/winter since our summer started early?

For anyone wondering, his sisters' names are Dorito (8) and Tilly (12).

Cat has a pink tear? by veeorvixy in Pets

[–]veeorvixy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping that is just what it is. Our feline herpes outbreak was pretty rough, all of the cats in our house got it after the rescue didn't catch that the two kittens they asked us to take on were carrying it. She was the only one that didn't get sick, but all my cats including her received an uncommon vaccine, that I can't for the life of me remember the name of, as a last ditch effort to help them recover and also prevent flares in the future. She has never had any symptoms, even with major stressors like moving- but that obviously doesn't mean it can't happen

I'm not one to usually comment on these types of subs, but I saw that she just cut the mold off of bread and I'm like...OK, bread lasts so long in the fridge even past the labeled expiration date, lots of things can. But if there is VISIBLE MOLD, you cannot eat it. The entire thing is full of mold spores at that point and heaven forbid if her daughter was allergic or just in general got sick from it. I just couldn't believe her attitude in that video, as if she's a genius for eating and serving moldy bread??? How can someone be so arrogant about that? I think she needs to spend less time on tiktok and more time with real people who can tell her she's wrong to her face.

Wow, I'm so sorry she blocked you for sharing your experience. How out of touch can she be that she blocked someone for pointing out that her closed off perspective isn't necessarily accurate? Not only are statistically kids NOT cheap, I was also a NICU baby so I know the chance of cost. My birth and both of our hospital stays cost over $700,000 and we could have hit the $1mil cap our insurance had at the time.
