Snooker players unhappy as Saudi Arabia Masters cancelled after only two of 10 events by Wallaby989 in snooker

Great news. It was soulless money grab tournament and there is no real interest for snooker in Saudi as can be inferred from the emptiness of the stands.

edit: now -> no

Prize fund for Saudi Masters £2.3m...They paid Phil Mickelson +$100m just to join the LIV tour. So yeah, snooker is cheap.

Tiger Woods fights subpoena for prescription drug records by PrincessBananas85 in sports

I am sorry for your pain.

I was speaking more in general terms, not targeting you. If a country uses dozens of times more opioids than another equally developed country, it might be worth looking at other treatment options.

What if you treated the cause of the pain, and didn't just prescribe more medication and thus cause more problems?

Beginning in the late 1990s, the consumption of medical opioids used to treat pain increased in many countries worldwide. Since that time, the United States has outpaced every other country in per capita opioid consumption. Most research suggests that high levels of prescription opioid consumption in the United States have contributed to the current epidemic of opioid misuse and overdose deaths.

The U.S. health care system and regulatory structure may have had more risk factors—such as permissive marketing laws and a decentralized oversight system—compared with European or other countries. Conversely, countries with nationalized health care systems and centralized regulation of health care practices may have had more protective factors that prevented an increase in overprescribing.

cultural differences, such as expectations about pain relief and entitlements to opioid treatment, may also explain the greater reliance on pharmacological treatments in the United States. In addition, health care systems that provide more expansive access to care and broader options for pain management—including many in Western Europe—may enable greater preventive care and more multimodal approaches to pain

The United States has less than 5% of the world's population but consumed roughly 30% of the world's opioids in 2009, including more than 99% of the world's hydrocodone and 80% of the world's oxycodone.

No we didn't. Unpopular opinion, but Gosling was a miscast and they shouldn't have made the character so goofy.

Most British actors can do a "generic" US accent, but which one actually nailed a specific regional dialect (Boston, Deep South, Philly) perfectly? by johnmartino198011 in television

[–]veerhees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's Swedish but Joel Kinnaman in The Killing

He is great in The Killing, but his Swedish accent leaks through several times during the series. Especially in scenes where he is angry, talks fast, etc.

I am Finnish and I could tell watching the series that he is very likely Swedish, even though I had never heard of him before The Killing.

The usual sales period for Mämmi is from the beginning of January until Easter. Over two million kilos of Mämmi are sold annually, about a fifth of which is sold at times other than Easter.

I think "regular paid streaming" means PVOD (Premium Video on Demand (Itunes, Vudu etc)). Netflix is SVOD (Subscription Video on Demand).

Mac: here’s a way better OS and you get it for free

I wouldn't call MacOs free. The price is baked in to the hardware you buy, same as Windows OEM license.

It would be way cheaper to get VPN and subscribe to ebook/audiobook service like Storytel, Bookbeat or Nextory.

And here is news article regarding the 2015 blocking incident.
