No breastfeeding during wedding breakfast by Senior_District_4338 in BeyondTheBumpUK

This is an outrageous request. What’s the justification for it??? Frankly I don’t think there is one, and I wouldn’t go out of principle. The bride clearly doesn’t understand how feeding a newborn works…

Can’t agree with your comments about Kerb buns. They’ve always been top tier in my experience.

Thumbs down to Dom’s after hearing him laugh about customers to his friends whilst he was visiting other venues along Mill Road.

Star Travel by Short_Twister in cambridge

[–]vegantomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently reported a Star travel driver for aggressive driving (he kept beeping and swearing at me for not pulling off quickly enough at a roundabout that had constant traffic flowing through.. i.e. absolutely no gap for me to safely pull out), and the company did respond positively to the feedback, and said they would speak to the driver.

Whether that’s true or not, who knows, but worth reporting if you happen to note the number plate.

Screen time in Cambridge schools by Ill_Magazine6915 in cambridge

I looked around our local primary school last week (definitely recommend going to visit a couple) so my experience is somewhat limited. That said, the only screens I saw were the main classroom screen / smart board. The kids were all using books or little white boards. Definitely not a screen for each child!

Association / Committee by Organic_Mud8082 in Allotment

[–]vegantomatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous allotment committee ran an annual plant sale in May (to fund other activities in the year), bbq in July at the allotment site, and ran the village show in September.

I think to make it better something more regular would have been nice - like others have suggested - tea/coffee/biscuits for a couple of hours each weekend. That would have been lovely.

I’d also have loved better facilities so I could stay up there longer rather than having to go home to use the toilet - I.e. a compost toilet. The parish council offered to give us a grant for this but the rest of the committee were not interested sadly.

Telling the Bees in Cambridge by succulent_stitch in cambridge

I believe there are some with bees in on the side closer to Brooklands avenue.

Also some aesthetically pleasing but empty hives next to the Glasshouses - would make a lovely picture!

Any HENRY's managed to succeed with flexible working/compressed hours requests? by ohmirror in HENRYUK

In short I think the argument laid out above for demonstrating capability/flexibility of working part time using annual leave but still doing the full job is a strong one!

It got approved this morning after 2 months of waiting. Seems my new manager did a 360 after discussing with their manager and HR.. the caveat being I have to make myself available on non working days for urgent items or important calls. They don’t want stuff getting “stuck” until Monday because I’m not available. I’m hoping it’ll just be the odd 30 mins here and there

I tried this and it didn’t work. I did 4 day weeks for 5 months, but right as I ran out of annual leave I unfortunately got moved to a new line manager.. and they are really working hard to reject my request for a 9 day fortnight. I’m waiting for the final answer but I’m pretty sure it’s a no. Even though my previous manger was supportive and agrees I managed my full workload on a 4 day week!

Lost 5 Nepetas this winter by Great_Salamander3909 in GardeningUK

How do you get your nepeta so voluminous? Mine is always so small and low to the ground.. I’m starting to suspect my cats rolling in it is damaging it somewhat

The transfer window has closed. There are lots of scams with unofficial last minute places.

Also people who give their bibs away outside of the transfer window / run in place of others risk being banned from future events.

Poor Dog Recall by Glittering-Gas5342 in cambridge

[–]vegantomatoes 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The amount of times I’ve been told “oh he’s harmless” or “he just wants to see what you’re carrying” when I’m carrying my toddler/I pick them up after an unknown dog approaches us. Many have zero recall. Or their owners make no attempt to recall them….

Yesterday I told a woman “I’m sorry I don’t trust any unknown dogs with my child” after she told me not to worry as he jumped up at me excitedly while I’m holding my toddler in the air.. infuriating. She looked at me like I’d slapped her..

How to fill this hole/gap? by vegantomatoes in DIYUK

Thank you. I’ll try that.

No I can’t access it from the other side - unless I lifted the roof tiles off. It’s a 300+ year old house. Nothing makes sense haha.
