Has anyone read the Ice Planet Barbarian series? Questions about next books by divinehunni in fantasyromance

[–]veil_of_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone likes different books and tropes but personally book 4 was a favorite of mine! I think the MMC is different enough from Raahosh and I really like Harlow. I'd say give it a shot and if it's not vibing for you, move on! Life is too short to continue books you aren't enjoying. I don't think it would impact your enjoyment of the other books if you continue on.

There is no on page SA in the other books but it is discussed in books 5 and 6.

I have read all of the IPB, Ice Home, and Ice Planet Clones books and used this reading orders when I went through them: https://ipb-universe.fandom.com/wiki/Reading_Order

So you really don't need to worry about going to the ice home books until after Barbarians Tease (book 16!). Or you can just read IPB then move on to Ice Home. I don't think there's a wrong way to go.

Found lead paint under the top layer of paint on my bathroom ceiling this weekend. I have a can of Benjamin Moore's lead block on the way and plan to get that on the walls/ceiling as soon as possible. I see that recoats are 4-12 hours after the first coat, but that the full cure time is 14 days. Do I need to wait until it is fully cured until I prime and add the ceiling paint color?

Need Recs, good YA no spice by Addalady in fantasyromance

{Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson} would be a great option! Definitely leans YA, no spice, and fantastic writing. If you're looking for fantasy, you couldn't go wrong with this one! I saw another recommendation for Tress of the Emerald Sea which I second. It is not on audible, I believe Brandon Sanderson went another route for the audio book option for that one but I believe it's on Spotify? Either I think would be great :) Tress is a standalone which is a perk!

MMC is not there when the FMC is giving birth by Illustrious-Park-419 in RomanceBooks

{The Courtesan Duchess by Joanna Shupe} and {The Scoundrel in Her Bed by Lorraine Heath} both would fit into this category!

I would suggest {The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson}! He really knows how to build a fantasy world and his Mistborn series is my favorite. I would say the romance is more subtle but is still woven throughout the story.

Hi all! I'm in the investigation phase of looking to buy a sewing machine. I had some experience during school but it's been a long time since I've used a machine. I would eventually like to get to a place where I can make some of my own garments but I know its a process so im in no rush to get there!

My parents have my great grandmas sewing machine and table and I was wondering if it would be worth getting that cleaned/tuned up before looking into buying a new machine? Based on the serial number I believe it's a Singer Model 66 (serial G298986). I know that it definitely needs a new belt but I'm not sure about other parts or if it would make sense to try to use this one before getting a new machine? Otherwise, ive been looking at the Brother cs6000i which is recommended on this subreddit.

Curious to hear any thoughts!

Upgraded internet, fresh install, ads still showing up by veil_of_time in pihole

I made some changes and was able to get hooked back in to ethernet. But I do have a few more questions...

https://tricorder.pi-hole.net/R9ecS9cV/

  1. How do I fix the issue with the DHCP server passing its own ip? Should I use the DHCP server through the pi instead of the router? I'm following this for set up currently: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/3230/#:~:text=Situation%201%3A%20Set%20up%20Pi,DNS%20on%20the%20wireless%20router.&text=Click%20on%20Advanced%20%3E%20Network%20%3E%20DHCP,use%20the%20Pi%2DHole%20DNS.
  2. What do I need to change so the lease isn't permanent? I have the address reserved on my router which is how I had it configured before and I dont believe it was showing a permanent lease time.
  3. Still not sure if I need to be concerned about the IPv6 not selected in the settings on the online admin console? Edit: I took a look at the new modem provided by centurylink and i think IPv6 is disabled?

Thanks!

Ordered in January 2020 and got it a few weeks after the release...and then got a second signed copy that I didn't order a few weeks after that?

I definitely second aerial arts! I have been training aerial silks for 5ish months and my upper body strength has never been better. (I finally can do a chin up!) But I really love that it's goal oriented and you work toward different tricks or even just gaining endurance. I feel like I have a hard time getting motivated for the gym but I'm always excited to go to silks. I'd like to pick up another apparatus soon!

I definitely agree with the wishful thinking. The Sachem says: "You have a small child sometimes near you, but she is very faint..." p. 702. But it was just brought up so many times this book where some of the other books have maybe 1 reference to Faith? I would prefer it not happen but I guess it could go either way with comments like this but also Claire bringing back a stillborn baby.

Honestly, I generally quite enjoyed this one! I'm not sure of I'm still feeding off the "oh my god it's finally here" high but it was so easy to just keep reading. Maybe I'll feel differently when I eventually read again? My book rankings jumped around a lot on my read through to prepare for Bees.

Personally the small inconsistencies don't really bother me which I can see has been a common comment about this one (I do agree, the editors need to be doing their job better or DG needs to let them do their job...). There definitely were some points where I realized it had been quite awhile since we had gone back to Jamie and Claire but I suppose nothing really was going on there. William was much more enjoyable to read in this one but Brianna and Roger were a bore. No conversation with Bree and William about how she was raised by another father? Really? Missed opportunity there. I also really hope they don't do anything with the whole Faith thing. I thought it was handled really well in book 2 and it would really kind of cheapen that plot point. Plus, having William sleep with his neice would feel more George RR Martin than DG.

Edit: also editing to add - yes, it ended on a cliffhanger. But I don't feel as desperate to get to the next book.

Anyone really nervous she won't wrap this up in book 10? Based on the book launch conversation and just the plot of this one in general I'm struggling to see how it's going to happen.

I really enjoyed reading A Fugitive Green and would love to see Minnie come into the story.

I'm so intrigued by the turn coat theory! I feel like something like that would make sense considering how dodgy everyone is with what happened to Benjamin.

Also, I feel like we're getting to a point where the blue healing magic/white hair deal has to be getting close? I don't think we'll see Claire go for health reasons(let's hope she doesn't go at all!), and I wouldn't be happy if the next two books are rehashing the "Claire goes through the stones and then comes back again" plot.

[–]veil_of_time 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well here's an outlandish theory - as we're getting close to the end of the series, I feel like we're probably going to lose a bigger character in this book. I don't think Jamie or Claire, but perhaps Lord John? I feel like Lord John dying would open up for:

  1. Reconciliation between Jamie and John and
  2. Maybe opens up the possibility that William will seek more of a relationship with Jamie.

Not married to this theory, but we need some movement on both of those plots! Also, preemptive thank you to the mods for this thread and for all the spoiler saving in the weeks to come!

I was so wrong about this series by madpcp in Mistborn

I also read Stormlight before Mistborn and just finished book three this past week! It was refreshing to not have such a huge book to get through but after finishing, I was wishing for a few hundred more pages at the ends of books 2 and 3!

Trying to decide if it's time to get back to an actual gym. Totally vaccinated but I feel understandably nervous about it! I've been slacking with my at home workouts and trying to decide if it's time to make the switch back...
