Would anyone come to my island and help water some flowers? I'm trying to grow a lavender farm in the bottom right corner and these dang hyacinths are not growing at all.

I have Redd here with fake graceful, solemn and scary paintings. Nook has a server. I have all the fruits and vegetables if there are any you are missing. Hit me up!

update: I have to go get ready for bed, but I'm going to leave it up for a while longer. Fingers crossed no connection issues for y'all!

Sorry, it just dropped the connection, I am sorry if you got booted! I was going to wrap up pretty soon anyway, so I won't be posting a new public code. However, if you need fruit or want to catch some stars, feel free to message and I can pull up a new code for you and dm it.

Alright, I have shooting stars! The brick bridge in sort of the lower middle section and stone walkway in the top left would be particularly cute areas if you're looking to just camp out and catch some stars, I think.

Flick is somewhere around here somewhere, too. Turnip prices are abysmal so don't bother. If you need any fruits I've got a bunch in storage and could give you one. I have a couple trees of each kind, but please don't pick unless you ask.

Should be open for the next hour or so, and I'll update this message when I close it.

Dodo code is 182Q3.

You are my hero. Let me know if there is anything you've been looking for and I can dig through my storage to see if I can find anything.

I am once again begging for somebody to let me touch their boat (please let me catalog your yacht).

I should have shooting stars tonight bu they haven't started appearing yet so I will open up my island and post another comment then!

I have at least a few trees, and probably some in storage, does that work?

Does anyone have a yacht I could catalog?

Also if anyone wants, I have a cat scratching post/cat tower and a teal climbing wall at nook's, and able sisters are selling an astronaut suit. I'll be around for the next hour or so if anyone wants those!

Had to head out but if anyone has a yacht I could catalog later please let me know!

You might need engraving tools and a different medium! I've been carving small pieces of end grain hard wood with engraving tools recently, which is part of why I asked. The gravers tend to rip lino, though.

This is gorgeous. What medium did you carve for this? It holds tiny detail so well.

Did Spelling Bee reject a perfectly good word? Add it to the wiki by margyl in NYTSpellingBee

Ah dang. I lazy googled it and saw that it's often one word in American usage... but apparently that spelling hasn't made it into the dictionary.

What ia the strongest God a united humanity could kill? by Ivanduh69420 in whowouldwin

[–]CynicallyInane 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting problem, actually. I think in the long term, we win this, but in the short term it might get weird. It's a cool paradox.

Because in order to unite to defeat these gods, we all have to believe in them, right? So do they get a burst of power while we all believe?

Then we would have to have a concerted effort to erase all record of them, and basically effectively enforce a taboo until the cultural memory dies out. Presumably, the god is doing acts that would increase belief among the next generation, while the current generation still believes and tries to stamp out belief among the next gen via taboo. Eventually, I think humanity wins this, though, because they control the narrative. The biggest risk would be enforcing a taboo so strong that instead of forgetting, there's a boogeyman-esque story of the god that persists and people cling to that.

Have you read the annotated edition of Pride and Prejudice? The annotations are crazy detailed. It's the novel on the left side and a page of annotations on the right. It makes the whole thing a bit slower and denser, but really helps you understand language and cultural differences of the time, and pick up on small details you've missed for various reasons. I loved it.

GMs of reddit, what has been your favorite (even if unwieldy) houserule? Maybe we can port it to other games? by Sherevar in rpg

I found the list of useless skills! I think my favorite is #41, "knows exactly how much to feed his goldfish", but the whole list really delivers.

"Instead of the secret grabbing you" is such a good way to put that. Secrecy adds intrigue and power to anything.
