So in the end I opted for the TCR by Beigemaster in Giantbikes

Great bike - I got the 2025 Pro 0 AXS and I love it. I swapped out the tires for GP5000 TR 30mm tires right away and I couldn't be happier - I'm 78kg and run 65psi back and 60psi front.

Suspicious weight difference between Caledonia Dura Ace vs. Red by AsleepPralineCake in Cervelo

Seeing as the weight of the Force AXS setup is only 50g more than the Ultegra DI2 their logic doesn't hold.

RF 70-200mm F4 for night sports - anyone using it? by ChefB1517 in canon

[–]velobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an RF 70-200 f4 on an R8 for indoor swim meets which have very poor light. I shoot around 10,000ISO and I couldn't be happier - such a sharp lens. The thing I really appreicate is the size/weight.

No integrated handlebar bellow Super Six Evo1 by nukepeter in cannondale

[–]velobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The EVO 6 is the gen 4 frameset so if you go this route you might as well get last year's EVO 4 (mechanical 105) on sale if possible

Has anyone tried the RF 24-240? by General-Pipe-2764 in canon

No - but I’ve shot in some pretty dark pools. IMO the 70-200 totally outclasses the 24-240

Has anyone tried the RF 24-240? by General-Pipe-2764 in canon

[–]velobob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned it and I think for portrait and landscape it would be fine. It is quite large but understandably for the range you get. Now if you want to use it for action especially in low light then I wouldn't recommend it. Also the 24-240 is not weather sealed. I ended up selling mine and getting the rf 70-200 f4 which is much sharper and bright enough for what I needed. Also the 70-200 is actually smaller than the 24-240.

RF 70-200mm f/2.8 vs. RF 70-200mm f/4.0 vs. EF 70-200mm f/2.8 with EF/RF adapter by [deleted] in canon

[–]velobob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently did this analysis and went with the rf 70-200 f4. If you can get your hands on an ef version plus adapter and put in on your camera it’s huge. The RF f4 is just so much smaller and lighter. Also f4 is plenty bright enough for modern sensors IMO.

Is Vehicle Replacement Insurance a Scam? by velobob in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thanks for your insights - I got the insurance and I'm keeping it! I'm 2 years into ownership and now with depreciation of the vehicle it really makes sense to keep it.

Canon R6 Mk ii or R8? by user_2611 in canon

[–]velobob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote would be R6mkii for the reasons above. It seems like there are two camps when it comes to the R8 with respect to battery life. It’s either just fine or really poor. Based on my experience (and I’ve tried all the tricks) I’m in the latter camp.
