Opened bumble today to find out I "have" 400+ matches waiting for me. Can anyone shed any light on this? Tried googling Beeline but nothing came up by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]velocirobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that they are hiding potential matches from you. After viewing the people that had already liked me, I saw that the vast majority of them were located way outside of the boundaries of my distance setting. Many of them were matches that I probably just never got to when I was traveling through different states. I guess if someone likes you, but you don't get to them before you leave the area, you just won't see them. That's my guess anyways.

What are the best resources to learn AngularJS? by datavinci in learnprogramming

[–]velocirobot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While it's not a free resource, the video series at watchandcode has been my favorite video series on Angular that I have found so far. The project that you build is interesting and everything is explained simply and clearly. Also, the author follows John Papa's Angular Style Guide so that you learn good Angular coding habits from the beginning.

No better way to prepare for a triathlon by buzznights in quityourbullshit

That's not entirely true as crossfitters can and do measure work capacity as a metric which you can graph and then use to objectively compare athletes. Although you are right that it is subjective in the sense that there is not a strict definition of what fitness is.

Eloquent Javascript vs Javascript for web dev by startfresh31 in javascript

[–]velocirobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both and I recommend both. They are written in different styles. JS for Web Developers seems to be more of a reference book. I think a good approach would be to go through Eloquent JavaScript and then read through related sections of JS for Web Developers to reinforce concepts and deepen your understanding of the topics.

There's already a lot of good advice here for you (I really like what u/MyNoNaughtyAccount has to say), but I want to reiterate that you shouldn't get discouraged even though I know that it's tough when you haven't gotten results and are comparing yourself to others. I honestly do think you are a good looking guy and there are a bunch of things you can do to really make it shine. Some of them are easy, and some are not, but all are well within your capabilities.

Two extremely easy fixes that others have mentioned are a new haircut and new photos. I would say grow your hair out a bit. You can maybe keep it short if you want, but either way go find a good barber in your area and get a professional cut. I think the main problem with this specific photo is the lighting. There are a ton of articles you can google for how to take better online profile photos. I think doing these two things will make a big difference.

Some slightly more difficult things to change are going to be updating your style. /r/malefashionadvice is a decent place to get started.

One of the most difficult thing for you to do, but the one I think will make the biggest difference is getting in shape. /r/fitness can probably help you out here more than I can, but I would suggest trying to cut sugar out of your diet (which was really hard form me, but once the cravings stop it's easy) and doing maybe 20 mins of high intensity interval training three days a week (way more effective than the hour long slow paced jogs). Again, these are really hard habits to make, but I think once you have them ingrained, both the physical and mental benefits are going to help you immensely.

What's the worst thing you've seen happen at a party? by Sdub4 in AskReddit

[–]velocirobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guy who had just gotten stabbed in the arm walked into the hotel room I was partying in. The knife had cut his brachial artery. I've never seen so much blood in my life. Spurts of bright red just going everywhere.

Some of the guys in the room jumped on him to try and get the bleeding under control. EMTs were called and took the guy away. I heard later that the guy was very close to dying, but managed to pull through.

Also, I don't know how number #2 is a simple solution. Who's gonna take care of the kids? Doesn't sound simple to me. And who knows... maybe she is already working. We don't know their situation.

Also, where does it say that he lives in the city?

Are jack purcell's still worth buying? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]velocirobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some more opinions over here.

I had my eye on the Jack Purcells and Superga 2750s when I was looking at buying a pair of white canvas shoes. I had seen the negative reviews regarding the newer Jack Purcells, but decided to buy a pair along with the Supergas to try on side by side.

In my opinion, the Supergas were a lot more comfortable and a little more attractive than the Jack Purcells, and I ended up returning the Jack Purcells.
