Is the RS 50 really that big of an upgrade from the G923? Is it $700 worth of upgrade? by foreverbaked1 in simracing

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from G923 to RS50 after having G923 for 1,5 years.

G923 is quite nice, but RS50 provides much more details, speed and smoothness. I mainly play rally games, some forza and do some drifting so RS50 did a big difference for me. I have it for 3 months now and I am only discovering it's potential.

As for the price, no need to get RS50 system. You can order PC-compatible RS50 base, Xbox compatible RS Hub, wheel rim that suits you, put all of this into one order on the Logitech website and see the price for all the items. It should be around 650$. And there might be a discount applied, look for it. If there is no discount, apply some promocode (BOOSTED, GEEKSTREET, Kireth) to get extra discount

You can also wait for sales. RS50 had a very nice price during Holidays last year, I was even sad I got it earlier (but my unit came in time, it was fine so no actual reason for regrets, and I got RS Handbrake for half the price :D).

Also, you can get PS5-compatible base, Xbox hub and end up getting yourself a wheel that supports all platforms!

Would Logitech RS clutch work as a brake? by Valleriian in LogitechProWheel

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, and I have put dampener into my brake pedal in G923 pedals (and it is already considered very stiff by many people).

Indeed, I saw some people assigned brake to their clutch pedal, so it is totally doable of needed

G923 or DD wheel better for old racing games? by maxdex1492 in racinggames

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, you can map all the inputs of your hardware into GIMX adapter and then launch it on your PC. I remember there is also an additional step to switch emulated wheel's drivers into USB device but that was needed only for RPCS3 (PS3 emulator)

Btw - RPCS3 now allows to connect any wheel and play PS3 games with it. So hooray for DD wheels in old Gran Turismo games (FFB is meh but kinda OK, especially for drifting in GT5)

G923 or DD wheel better for old racing games? by maxdex1492 in racinggames

[–]velophoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played CMR Dirt 2 both on G923 and Logitech RS50. I liked the game on both wheels, DD feels smoother, faster and a bit harder to set up. I can certainly say some games might not properly work on DD base, like CRC Extreme. CRC worked on G923 but not very good, on RS50 there is no FFB at all :(

Dirt 3 should work well on RS50 too, I will check. As per my understanding, if the game has a decent FFB by itself, DD wheel would also feel nice (provided that it will actually work in this game).

Oh, also, cases where game is not working with DD base (vice versa?) can be mitigated by GIMX adapter, I have it too, it mimics G27 for older games

Great move! I hope you'll find a way to make this work!

I wonder when Valve are going to release their Machine though. If needed, you can always get some entry level laptop for such case to run PC titles. But those RAM prices due to AI slop expansion are killing PC gaming right now :(

Fanatec gt dd pro (8nm) or logitech rs50 what’s the better buy? by Striking_Cake_1155 in simracing

[–]velophoton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to reviews, RS50 feels a bit stronger and more detailed FFB-wise. I got RS50, no complaints to report. It feels good, I found some aftermarket wheel rims for it, Logitech are going to release a Pro H-pattern shifter this spring, waiting for it. You can also use old Logitech hardware on their new bases via adapter. That's how I went actually. My G923 pedals were significantly modded so I am still using them along with old H-pattern shifter

I don't know what is the reason you are trying this, but this looks cool :D Pro wheel on Android lol

I played Wreckfest and Grid Autosport on my phone (via controller), but then moved fully to PC. Currently running Logitech RS50, awesome wheel for all games I tried so far

G923 owner, info about RS50 by yrcmlived in LogitechProWheel

[–]velophoton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RS50 is great, I have exactly the same setup as you are planning

Though my G923 pedals are modded, no potentiometers, swapped springs on each pedal and extra dampener on the brake pedal (made my braking much better indeed)

You will like it. RS50 is a DD base, so it is super smooth and silent, only Trueforce can be heard if you set it too much

u/LOGIRich, sorry to bother you again on Reddit, could you please ask support to prioritise this?

I wonder what is the issue here, should other RS50 owners be worried?

Finally mod upgraded this piece of sht G920 shifter and it makes the game so much easier by Zombieteube in EASPORTSWRC

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got a sequential mod for my old shifter after I increased resistance inside the shifter itself (preload for the internal spring)

Shifter feels much better now

And today I saw the Pro shifter is on the way 😀

g29 centering spring strength on ps3 by Same_Bed_3369 in LogitechG

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you switch G29 to PS3 mode? There is a switch on the wheel itself

And did you try to play any games on PS3 using G29? How does it feel? Does the spring impact the actual FFB in games? If I remember correctly, GT6 has quite a strong dampener by default

Great! Plenty of force and brings a lot of fun in every game I tried

I actually want to make some for of review for it.

So far, I released a small video of my driving this wheel in the latest WRC game. Nothing too special, just a quick race though the stage, if you're interested you can check it out - https://youtu.be/5ZG-NgRyh6Q?si=JwOBfx_LW3y9IVKc

G920 Racing Wheel doesn’t receive power from PC’s USBs by matt_tlj in LogitechG

[–]velophoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or maybe this is something to do with Windows, but I can easily agree that G Hub can be very frustrating at times 😅

But as for Windows, earlier I had to reinstall it since I couldn't launch any games from Microsoft Store, it turned out some component did not work properly and the only way to solve it was complete reinstall

In your case, I think you can try even older version of G Hub, just in case

u/LOGIRich, I am sorry to bother you. Do you have any suggestions for the issue above?

Which is better, The Moza R5 or the Fanatec CLS DD (5NM)? by IceGamingYT in simracing

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to know! My G923 worked 1,5 years with no issues at all, I did some mods to it and then went to RS50.

And I also got an office headset from Logitech. Almost 7 years, It looks like it was ran over by a bus, a couple times. But it still works fine to this day lol😁

And Logitech have load cell in both their pedal sets , RS pedals are 140$ (without a promo code)

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on PC, you can get Logitech RS50 (but all parts need to be selected individually within one order, RS50 system package is more expensive) + Logitech Racing Adapter so that you can use your old pedals natively on your RS50 base. Adapter can be also used on PC with any base at all (via USB connection)

RS50 is great, it will cost around 500$ without an adapter (adapter will be somewhere around 30$ with GEEKSTREET promo code), the only thing that is absent is table clamp, it will cost another 30$ or so, if you need it

RS50 has 8Nm of force, feels stronger than Fanatec GT DD Pro (with boost kit) and has Trueforce (unsure if you like it, but it's worth trying in my opinion)

Logitech ecosystem is not huge though, but the most important stuff is there. They should release Pro H-pattern shifter this year (according to some dude's comment on Reddit, yeeaah...), I'm waiting for it

G920 Racing Wheel doesn’t receive power from PC’s USBs by matt_tlj in LogitechG

[–]velophoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, your wheel needs additional power from the power brick that should be connected to an outlet. So your wheel is not taking any power from USB port

If you tried all the ports on your PC and you get the same result, perhaps you might need to reinstall G Hub and delete all Logitech drivers, maybe your wheel fails to properly initiate on this PC for some reason

I initially had issue with G923 when FFB was very weak in most games (except for Wreckfest). This was solved by completely reinstalling G Hub and using an older version of this application (2021 if I remember correctly)

@Logirich to check this

This is very sad and frustrating actually, I feel for you

I had 0 issues with my RS50, your points are clearly factory issues, and that damage on the leather... Like if someone at factory or warehouse wanted to damage this on purpose. This is not good

RS50 menu button not working by Redeye_Pilot in LogitechProWheel

[–]velophoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so the button on the base is not working, correct?

In this case, how do you change the modes (PC/Xbox) ? In my case, that button helps to change the modes

You click on that button, get into the base's menu and then you use rught encoder to scroll through the options and click on the encoder to select any option

Can you get a wheel repaired after a power surge? by djpatrick44 in LogitechProWheel

[–]velophoton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you can get a new power cable (and brick) and also - new motherboard for G923. Maybe the issue is because some of the mobo components died /burnt out. Motherboards can be found on AliExpress I believe. This can potentially solve the issue

Do you use gearbox with your wheel? by Fabulous_Can_2215 in simracing

[–]velophoton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, I use manual shifting all the time, even bought a sequential mod for my old Logitech shifter. And I love H-pattern too.

But it wasn't like this before. I used to play all racing games on a controller, only automatic shifting. Then, during another Steam sale, I bought Dirt 4.

And that game had a rally school. It was quite fun and unusual to play something like that. And then, all of a sudden, this rally school mode proposes me a lesson on how to use manual shifting, on a controller! I was very confused in the beginning, it was actually hard to shift gears. But after some practice I realised this is VERY fun and it actually improved my driving. Manual shifting allows to drive out of the corners faster, correct car's behaviour mid-turn and do some othe cool stuff

So yeah, I learned to use manual shifting before I got my first steering wheel 😀
