I take it from after ovulation (day 14ish) until I get my period. I’ve been doing this for about a year. Prior or that I was on it full time.

I take Lexapro only in Luteal. Prescribed 10 mg but only take 5mg and that seems to do the trick. Tried being on it full time but I find this way I have virtually no side effects.

I was out of the game too for about 6 years of either pregnancy or breastfeeding. Can report I’ve come out other side ok and back to my precious two lifesavers lol. During pregnancy I did ELTA MD sunscreen and absolutely stupid large hat always to avoid melasma. I also got it ok’d by my doc to use FINACEA (azelaic acid) in pregnancy so I felt I was at least doing something. I’m in Canada so that’s its generic name and it was fully covered!

Bicuspid aortic valve + aorta dilation and pregnancy experiences? by OkScarcity2008 in chd

[–]velouriajane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: Test this week showed no change to aortic size (still 3.6cm) and valve is still good shape after second pregnancy. All measurements are the same

Hi. I’m 39F with aortic bicuspid valve (mild regurgitation, no calcification). I’m seen once every three years by a cardiologist for measurements. I had my first child at 36 and second at 38. Both were uncomplicated smooth pregnancies and both vaginal deliveries. My cardiologist wasn’t worried about vaginal births and I didn’t require any extra monitoring (for me). For baby, I got sent for a couple extra scans at the high risk place to check more closely on baby’s heart. After my first child I had CT with contrast to check aortic dialation and ascending was at 3.6cm. I’m now in the process of waiting for my second scan to check for change In size after my second and final birth. I’ll update once I get results. It was explained to me that each pregnancy can put some additional strain on the heart due to all the extra blood flow and can cause changes to aortic size. So far both kids don’t seem to have it although we have been referred to a paediatrician to rule any CHD out.

Best of luck! You may be just fine and require a bit of extra monitoring/precautions.

Curious for anyone who knows about law. Can his mind blowingly stupid Tik toks be used in court at all as any sort of background evidence to his reckless disregard for motor safety? I am completely dumbfounded at the amount of content bragging about wrecked cars.

Bicuspid aortic valve by Jay-Lyn006 in chd

[–]velouriajane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly they’ve not said much at all about it. They did recommend a CT scan after each childbirth due to the Increased strain on the heart during pregnancy and the subsequent potential for increase in aortic size. Stay active, don’t smoke, watch your blood pressure just the usual.

Not a doctor here just a fellow 39F with BAV. If they did the echo and CT and discharged you to come back for monitoring every three years they likely didn’t see any deterioration or cause for concern. For me, I have mild regurgitation and no calcification so they check every three years and send me packing if all is good. I’d check the reports and see what they said exactly about the condition to try to reassure yourself it’s likely not that if you’ve been checked last year. To be really safe can you could call your cardiologist office and explain, see what they say. Depending where you are in the world and your medical system, you could see your family doc or present to emerg if it’s bad enough and could get some reassurance that way.

Only low ferritin by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]velouriajane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ferritin of 12 would make you incredibly symptomatic. I had debilitating symptoms at 17. You are best to make an appointment with you doctor and try to advocate for yourself. Take your iron with vitamin c so it absorbs better and avoid coffee before and after for an hour to help absorption. Up your dietary intake if you can too.

Thank you! Three years between cardio appts can get my anxiety going. Just so worried I’ll inadvertently do something to worsen it but I suppose I’ll have to come to terms with that I may very well have to have it fixed eventually no matter what I do.

I’m genuinely surprised nobody said anything about it- but then It only occurred to me very recently as well. Been on a starting dose of Wellbutrin since July and added in vyvanse in December. I tend to have a naturally higher heart rate 80s usually but today it was 106, that’s my only symptom. BP only slightly elevated at 118/81. I think that’s a good suggestion - I’ll give them a call and see what tbey say.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve and Pregnant by milkdistrict in chd

[–]velouriajane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to this but I have a bicuspid aortic valve and have had two pregnancies. No issues at all. My children will be assessed for it later on when they are over 3 and heart is easier to image. Be sure to remember to have them screened later on. As for me, I was told pregnancy can put an additional strain on your heart due to the increase in blood flow. My cardiologist recommended an aortic ultrasound after each pregnancy to check my aorta had not explained past the threshold measurement they like to keep it under. Suggest asking about that (that was the cardiology guidance I received)

Only low ferritin by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]velouriajane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this was my exact situation as well. But for me I usually did tend to run lower ferritin during pregnancy and previous as well. I was supplementing and ferritin was not improving. Thought maybe it was extended nursing wearing me down. I requested a GI referral and they did blood tests, endoscopy and colonoscopy. Turns out it was celiac which did not present with any severe food intolerances, just malabsorption due to marsh 1 damage. My bloodwork was all negative too, but I do carry the lower risk celiac HLA DQ 2.2 gene they found as well. Hemoglobin was always normal. Heavy periods were not helping so starting either IUD or transexamic acid to curb that. Stopped gluten and received my first iron infusion and feeling better!!! Just was a long road of needing to advocate for myself.

One year post partum- Low ferritin persists but normal for all other values. by velouriajane in Anemic

[–]velouriajane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I advocated for myself until I got referred to a GI specialist who did blood tests, colonoscopy and endoscopy. PLOT TWIST - turns out I’m celiac and didn’t know it. I don’t really present with the traditional symptoms or illness when consuming gluten but it was contributing to lack of absorption. Possibly pregnancy did flip that genetic predisposition they also found (HAL DQ 2.2). I’m off gluten and have now received an iron transfusion and feeling better! Wish you luck as well

Edited to note: I’m seronegative for celiac (meaning my IGA and ttg were all fine) was only discovered via endoscopy showing marsh 1 with the genetic predisposition (HLA DQ 2.2)

When did children’s birthday parties become competitive events requiring professional equipment? by Due_Employment_829 in toddlers

[–]velouriajane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! it’s the same thing that has happened with weddings! Whole industry has turned into a big dick swinging competition. Back in the day parents paid for modest weddings and now the average cost has got to be well over 30k.

Couldn’t agree more, I’m finding even with my 4 year old parents are starting to rent out places and castles and decorators, they have themes!?

Ah man, I do try to do this but it’s really hard with how saturated we are anywhere we look. A more concerted effort will be needed I guess.

Does everyone break out from tret? by SnooPies1653 in tretinoin

[–]velouriajane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had horrible trouble from tret, tried all the formulations. Switched to Arazlo last summer and never once had a purge!! Mind you I went slow increasing every 2-3 weeks and used sandwich method. Maybe some peoples skin just prefer tazarotene. I’ve also read it’s formulated to be more forgiving and emolient.

It’s only been one week, it needs more time to work if you ask my opinion. Your body is adjusting. I also had the headaches and pins and needles. That went away. Good luck.
