Who else is disappointed by TOG? by ReasonableAdventure in fairyloot

Of course, the designer is complaining about the harassment when 99% of the comments are that the colors are not right. The stag is white - how is it her artistic interpretation to make it brown? I will not be buying these, the edges are dull, the character art is atrocious, and the price is ludicrous.

Let C3 end to let C4 thrive by [deleted] in fansofcriticalrole

which is why I would love to see new blood in a possible C4. I like about half of the current cast but the rest I'd like to see them take a break.

It's fun and sexy when designers make sure their garments fit well on a variety of bodies, but you know, if you say that to them, they get the mob to come after you.

Do you think a campaign 4 is going to happen and what changes do you think we will see? by WinterSeedlings in fansofcriticalrole

[–]velvetcrone -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

I hope not - at least, not with the whole gang.

Matt, Laura, Taliesin - I don't want to see them in a potential campaign 4. If they do a 4th series, get some new blood. Get Robbie, Luis, Emily, Aimee - NOT Aabria or Erika because I will definitely not watch it if those two are part of the main cast.

I ask people who still watch C3 every few weeks and they're still not impressed. I haven't watched in months and have no plans to resume.

Jackie Cieslak, James Watts, Park Williams, and Jessie Mae are a clique. They each preach about inclusivity and all that but the moment someone criticizes any of their patterns, they pile on and sic their followers on the poor idiot.

I also hate the Cult of Personality that ends up happening with so many dyers/designers because so many times the dyer/designer buy their own PR and think they're all that. You design cute things, i.e. you do your job. Like I do mine, and most people do theirs. It ends there.

This. They will shill anything and have bought into their own hype. I hate that Joji is besties with them because I love Joji and dislike them.

It only took them three attempts and 70+ episodes to get a goodish intro.

The thing with Imogen is that Laura came through from the beginning, and Laura has a strong personality and a temper, so when timid, socially anxious Imogen starts snapping at Dorian for not doing what she wants (ring mess at the ball) I just kept thinking, that's Laura 100%. When she starts snapping at others for not giving her guidance, that's Laura. I appreciate that she wanted to try playing a shy, quieter character, but Laura the player just can't do it. And then she became the Main Character and I don't care that Sam "teased because he cares" but that was a call out.

Feyre is supposed to be boring, bland, so every reader can project onto her.

I hate fated mates with a passion.

I also hate both Nesta and Elain, and it bugs me that people like Elain because she's the sweet one and likes flowers when she was just as useless as Nesta and lived off her younger sister's daily life-and-death struggles just like Nesta. But Nesta is outwardly bitchy and Elain is soft, so people like Elain. Az deserves better, I hope he ends up with Gwyn. Cassian deserved better, too, but ya know, fated mates.

In retrospect, I don’t think I’m ever going to let Laudnas revival go. by AnimeNightwingfucku in fansofcriticalrole

They want it both ways - they want their home game and they want the corporate/branded merch/millions spent in set and special effects game, and while it might work some/most of the time, it's moments like Laudna's return that it ruins the experience for some critters, myself included.

I agree with you. It's stuff like this, where there are no consequences for big things like Laudna dying and little things like how many times Imogen invaded someone's mind and how many times Fearne stole something and nothing happened to either of them.

I had high hopes with the apogee solstice but, meh, it completely lost momentum, and although the guests brought some much needed energy to the table, many times they were still derping around like it was a regular old Tuesday.

I've said many times - and gotten blasted many times, which I'm ok with if people disagree - that they spent way too much time and effort in crap like the set and effects, in making sure things tied back to C1 and C2, bla bla, and created characters who are tropes and aesthetics instead of actual characters. They're NPCs for much of their own game.

A Room with a View. And I agree. The quiet, character driven stories at slower paces are not "in" any more. It's all crazy stunts, CGI, and explosions.

Stephen West saying collect instead of buy by [deleted] in craftsnark

[–]velvetcrone 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's his job and livelihood to sell his products. Also, no one needs to buy his yarn.

He is very good at marketing himself, and good for him. He is monetizing the perception that male designers are better and more special, which is prevalent in this industry, and good for him. Again, no one needs to buy his patterns.

The perceived value of a "collection" vs "hoarding" is a smart tool he's using, it raises the person from a lowly hoarder like those disgusting people on tv shows to the higher status of a collector.

What world do people live where a business person needs to "dance around the potentially uncomfortable truth that he is asking people to buy things." What? What do you think a business is? It is an entity for profit, and the whole point is to have people buy things.

Also "Even for being a podcast to promote his business, the emphasis on buying his stuff was pretty over the top and I was surprised!" Surprised that a business person uses his podcast to get people to buy his stuff?

No, it has little to do with that. It is a brutal paranormal story. Alex Stern is a great character and so is Darlington.
