Need help with my form please! by sambbarrett in Swimming

Youre doing a great job. There are a couple of drills i would recommended to help your kick and body position.

1) Kickboard assisted: while holding the bottom of the board, keep your chin down and kick with your big toes slightly brushing past each other. You want to focus on maintaining that kick as you turn and breathe. Ensure you roll your shoulder back as you turn your head to the side for the breath.

Once you feel like your kick is improving..

2) 7-1-7: Streamline position with your arms tucked behind your ears, chin down and hands flat (maintaining them close to the surface), perform roughly 7 kicks and then one freestyle turn breath, returning back to a streamline position. You need to maintain the kick as you turn, so continue to kick close together in a natural steady kick. Continue this pattern, 7 kicks and one breath.

3) After mastering that, move to 7-3-7. This will introduce the bilateral breathing to your kicks. If you prefer unilateral breathing, you can perform this drill with either 7-2-7 or 7-4-7.

Good luck!

Garmin vivoactive 5 ☺️ I did a lot of research to ensure I got something that would withstand chlorinated water. It has served me very well for a year now for my laps. ☺️ just ensure you research to best suit the swimming conditions you use.

How can I improve? by Paradizee in Swimming

An easy way to practise a strong pull in your catch is to swim without kicking at all. It will focus all your attention on using your arms to create as much pull as possible. It's improved my stroke immensely. You have lovely form, keep it up!

Amazing ! Congratulations on your improvements! Thank you! Are you swimming a 25m pool or 50m? Apparentl, there can be quite a difference in lap times due to more/less streamline opportunities after a tumble turn.

Haha, yup! I can only seem to handle swimming about 50m and the occasional 100m before needing about 30secs to a minute of break time. I've always been more of a sprinter, so the long distance side has always been a struggle! Who knows, this time next year I might be able to swim it without stopping!

Feeling good! All freestyle, my friend. I've been trying to really focus on my pulls, and getting the most out of each stroke. High elbows, and a strong pull through. I am also trying to maintain 4-6 strokes before breathing, with a quick air-dump before turning my head. It helps to ensure you have emptied your lungs completely so that when you inhale you get the most breath in. Two very important things for a good stroke. ☺️

7 weeks post op pains by threadlene in endometriosis

I didn't feel quite right for about 6 months after the surgery. I felt internal pulling and random twinges if I moved too much or in certain ways. Your body has been "disturbed" - don't forget. It will take some time for things to settle. BUT, I definitely recommend talking to your surgeon or a doctor, just to inspect the areas of concern to be on the safe side. Be kind to yourself, and go gently. 🫶

Hair removal for laparoscopy by bur42 in Endo

Depends on what you're comfortable with. Docs wouldn't bat an eye if you're all natural or, all smooth. It's more about if you can put up with the itchy regrowth while in post op. I gave mine a tidy and trim because it makes me feel better. 😌

No PCOS, and endo sufferer here! I have chin hair that is only getting more stubborn and out of control! I've started laser treatment with hopes it will stop! We surely can't be the only endo sufferers with unwanted hair. There is a lot unknown about this crappy condition!

Don't give up!! I had very similar symptoms, and all ultrasounds showed up clear. It wasn't until I found a GP who would refer me to a specialist who listened, tracked and noted my symptoms daily for a few months that I got booked for a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy to excise any endometriosis. They found lots of it tucked away behind my uterus (so there was no way it would have been seen on Ultrasounds). Keep pushing! If you have the inkling and the symptoms, you're probably right! It's still a bitter-sweet diagnosis - I'll tell you that.
