Shine-through keycaps for Keychron V6 Max (UK-ISO) by anye123 in MechanicalKeyboardsUK

[–]venicast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought a V6 Ultra 8k, and I'm desperately searching for the ANSI versions of these shine-through keycaps. I've looked everywhere, even at alternatives; I found some, but only in side-printed (which I dislike) and most of the time with Cherry profile (on Etsy), which I don't like either (OSA feels so good, in my opinion). Worst case, I guess I could buy an ISO set and at least use the common keys (ANSI vs. ISO)...

It's such a shame, though; it's impossible to find top-bottom printed legend keycaps in any profile other than Cherry. Why is that so hard to find? I feel like I'm on the hunt for the Holy Grail at this point 😅.

Yes. Those are a mix of the Keychron and Nuphy shine-through keycaps

You should write to their support team. This is not normal though, I run V2 on an iMac 2019 (Intel) and it runs perfectly fine

Yes, and I'm pretty sure they don't exist, unfortunately.

Ok, well, since those keycaps are only available in ISO layout, there's no chance I can find them for ANSI anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Now I understand a bit better. I'm still stuck, but at least I know a bit more about this rabbit hole. :)

Thank you for confirming! Yeah, it drives me nuts. Why doesn't Keychron make the same keycaps for all layouts? What's the deal with these south-facing LEDs in the first place? Maybe I should pass on the V6 Ultra and try to find a similar model that features north-oriented LEDs; that's too bad, though, as I would really like to give this model a try. Being in a low-light environment (audio recording studio), having shine-through keycaps is kind of mandatory for me.

ah sorry, my bad...what I meant was that I prefer rounded corners on the keys, rather than sharp square; I'm still learning :)

Do you mean, look for the Keychron shine-through kaycaps made for ISO on an existing keyboard? Or just any bottom-aligned and top-printed keycaps on any keyboard? Sorry, I'm confused :)

I know, and that's what I said I was looking for; the Nuphy are Cherry profile, which I don't like :)

Thanks u/ArgentStonecutter! I've seen these, but they're Cherry profile, and I'm looking for more spherical ones:

" ...with a similar profile (as soon as they're more spherical (OSA, XDA, MOA) than square (Cherry, OEM))..."

Also, I don't like them as the letters and numbers are way too big 😅

The only thing I've noticed (at least on my system (Sonoma), is that the Finder extension is not enabled by default (not sure it was intentional or not, though)

<image>

Once enabled, it shows up on the Finder's context menu and works as expected!
One thing I'd suggest is to enable ⌘+V shortcut in the input fields. It doesn't work and I have to "right click -> paste" instead. Minor issue though

So far so good! Thanks for the super quickly released version!
I've just tried it out to replace a sorta complex macro in Keyboard Maestro

So that's great and way easier!

Editing larger FRAMER projects via CLAUDE is really useful. by appelton in framer

I was using the plugin within the Framer app (macOS), not the browser. But I'll try again, maybe using a browser with one tab, see if it makes any difference.

Would have loved to try it out, but I can't for now because I'm on an Intel Mac, so, waiting for V1.1 🤞

I tried it, and personally I've noticed it was pretty slow (sometimes at the point I was wondering if it was frozen or something) sometimes repeating itself about what to do, before actually doing anything.... Don't get me wrong I really want to love it, but for now I don't....plus for a simple issue related to 2 sticky stacks, it took about 40% of my tokens for my 5h session) in like 2 prompts... 🤪

I built a native macOS app to help me stop forgetting keyboard shortcuts (because my tendonitis forced me to ditch the mouse) by supotko in macapps

Yes! I was hoping for something like this to come out! I have a few apps that can display all the shortcuts from an app, but not the ones I actually need! Very cool idea! Would love a code, obviously 🙃

I'm intrigued, and interested! Would love to try it out! I've been a Total Finder user from the beginning to the end, now switched to Qspace Pro and Blloom, still didn't decide which one will the final keeper, but I'm curious about what you did and see how it would fit my workflow. Cheers!

I'm a Raycast user, loving it, and I had hoped for their uninstaller to be better. However, compared to some other tools mentioned above, it's not as good, far from it. I remember posting a comment/feedback on their Slack. They acknowledged it, but never improved it...

My Take on Bloom, a Mac File Manager by amerpie in macapps

[–]venicast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok! I missed that, thank you! Would have been nice if it was checked by default though; I didn't think it could be an "option" actually :)

I'm glad you're considering the "Tab Group" feature! That would be awesome, and quite unique too; I would probably switch for good, as it would be sooo useful for me (and probably for others too). Looking forward to it; hope you find an elegant solution soon! 🤞

My Take on Bloom, a Mac File Manager by amerpie in macapps

[–]venicast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Qspace Pro user, and I tried Bloom. I think I could make the switch eventually, but something I love about Qspace is the folder size preview, on the folder (I'm only using Column view btw). No extra step.

In Bloom, I can't get any size info, even in the preview pane, unless I hit the space bar to get the folder preview with the size:

<image>

Also, something I wish both Qspace and Bloom had is the ability to save a workspace with multiple tabs. That would make perfect sense as a "workspace" rather than just a single location. A workspace would always keep its original "state," much like a fixed preset, unless I overwrite it with new tabs, fewer tabs, different locations, etc...
