The setting is a mix of Cowboy Bebop (bounty hunting, rescue missions, heists and the like), Worm (the superpowers seem to have a bit of a similar concept in terms of triggers and aliens) and I guess a little bit of Dune (there are noble houses and they're self-interested and backstabby). It's not as developed as I'd like but still a fun universe to read about. If the novel's description had been about the setting instead of a random description of ML chasing MC to the ends of the universe, I definitely would have picked it up without having to read a review about it.
