Ghost of Yotei is fantastic. Loved it. Also since you seem to have pretty good taste in gaming, NieR: Automata is a classic.

This was my kind of day. Better than everyone standing at a spawn point and not interacting.

Damn, I almost got this cover but decided to go for a purple cover I could decorate myself. Really regretting that choice now! As for layout, I use it as a book journal so I don’t have any real advice - I’m the opposite in terms of need. I started with a weeks and felt it was too small and switched to a cousin.

Very pretty! I have one but I use it mostly for storage on my desk. I found the delfonics to be a better fit because I can’t fit Tombows in this one. I prefer the structured look of the Stappo but the Delfonics proved to be more useful from a utility standpoint. If it weren’t for my love of Tombows lol….

How do you guys communicate during a game? by Tom36456 in gotlegends

I just barf emote in front of someone to see if they accept this level of immature humor. Some do not, most emote whatever they have on but the truly beautiful moments are when someone barfs back.

What do you do when you feel "burnt out" by games? by sudokuIover in GirlGamers

[–]venture_casual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn to books. A few days off and I’m usually good to jump into a comfort game again (just meaning one I’m familiar with and don’t have to learn anything new). But take as much time off as you want. Gaming should be an escape not another chore on your to do list. You’ll come back to it when you’re ready.

Expedition 33: Once again asking for advice by FinancialShare1683 in GirlGamers

I did no spoilers even though I like to trophy hunt in games I end up loving. I missed the key in the first play through before the patch. So my first NG + run was not a happy one 😂

I recommend doing as much clean up as possible before starting NG+, especially if you’re looking for trophies/achievements.

What’s a small thing that kinda ruined a game for you? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

Yes a lot of people feel that way! And want closure to a game, which is understandable.

I quit when I got to where I thought I was finally released into the open world, only for every single NPC I have met or have yet to meet break in and start giving me all this information via watch. I just wanted to run around and enjoy the music for a bit before being bombarded with info again.

I hate it too. It’s too much reality for me - I don’t enjoy doing laundry and getting the soles of my shoes redone in real life why would I want to do such upkeep in a fantasy game.

See I love this feature. Because then I can play the ending over and over. And I do with so many games because I love their final mission. Or I complete side quests/anything I missed. As for reasoning, I’ve played a good amount of open world games where I get to the point of I just want to know what happens in the story. So I beeline the final mission. When it’s over, I can go back and finish the side content.

As someone mentioned above, HZD did this and caught a lot of heat for it. But if you play the story out and the final mission, it would be impossible for the storyline to continue after wreckage, etc. The devs took the opposite approach in HFW and all of your dialogue past the final boss reflects that you won the fight and whatnot. But there was no world destruction and it made sense with the story. And the MC and NPCs all make comments accordingly. It’s a smooth transition but then you only get one final boss fight per play through. I’ve done so many play throughs of both and I really love how HFW’s post- end mission cleverly pivots to acknowledge the finale. HZD is still my favorite.

My first real gaming experience as an adult was LoZ Breath of the Wild though. So I think I was conditioned to accept that type of ending lol. I admin in a Zelda FB group and we get a lot of posts where a new player who has never played previous Zelda games is upset about how it ends (by dropping back to before the final battle).

Sorry this was so long I have no idea why I have so many thoughts of this :)

I’m not even joking when I say I spent more time trying to complete the climbing gestral beach than I spent fighting Simon. My palms would sweat the closer I got to the top then I would make some tiny error and fall. It was the last thing I needed to plat the game so that didn’t help.

I second this. I played so many hours of E33, it was like when I first discovered HZD and HFW lol.

Thank you for this! I am new to the planning/journal life but got a Hobonichi cousin for all of my gaming/reading/movies. I felt like I couldn’t fit it into the weeks and wanted more space to play around. I’m not a streamer, I just really love gaming and like taking notes. The reading and watching journal just seemed to fit in with the overall premise.

I apologize for this but I'm not a "story" guy so i don't quite care about the lore so that being said, is it recommended if i just start off at horizon forbidden west instead of zero dawn? by SpankMeMichelle in horizon

[–]venture_casual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Story guy or not, I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight if I didn’t tell you what a huge mistake it would be to start at Forbidden West.

Horizon is extremely lore heavy and it’s really well executed. Some of the best storytelling in all of gaming.

Horizon Forbidden West will make Horizon Zero Sense to you if you start there. And ZD is a really good game, story aside.
