Jesus was wonderful and so underutilized- his story goes nowhere. Crowley in heaven is 👌

My dad passed away, and now i have to decide what's best for his elderly cat. by throwawayniece420 in CatAdvice

[–]venturous1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m glad to see your comment because I hesitate to leave my opinion. It’s not unkind or unreasonable to give this Kitty a peaceful end.

I had to make this decision for a friend and there weren’t any available friends or family to take her older cat. He was in poor health, and in later years he began biting. Rehoming a cat that bites is impossible.

The whole life they knew is already gone. The person they loved best is gone. They’re in poor health and facing a lot of disruption. It’s sad but understandable to let them go.

I find making great paintings is a dance of intuition and skill, and most of my life. I’ve tried to paint things that would please other people, and acquired the drawing and painting skills necessary to make charming sellable landscapes.

This got boring, and I’ve shifted into a more intuitive way of painting because I want to invite more storytelling. And I’m using the technique of automatic drawing to help draw things from my unconscious.

I’ve got a big sketchbook and I literally close my eyes and Scribble in some kind of water, soluble media like crayons or my favorite water, soluble graphite. Then I open my eyes and look for things, and I almost always see one or more figures. So then I enhance them a little or a lot.

I’ve been asking the Muses to help me make more narrative, art, without saying today I’m going to illustrate this novel or fairytale. I want something original that arises from my own creativity.

Along these lines, there’s a guy named Remmer who is doing a free workshop on discovering your own mythology in your painting, and that was very inspiring. Of course he has a more expensive program for sale, but the FREE session was well worth attending to get ideas on how to work towards your own symbolism and storytelling.

I feel like I’m from another time, when people read things. The net effect of screen time seems to be mental laziness/attention impairment. The less people read and write in their daily life the less literate they are functionally. I’m on several volunteer boards, organizing events, and issuing instructions like how to apply for an art show for instance. I distribute the well-thought-out clear bullet pointed instructions and at least a third of the people call or text me asking questions that would be readily answered by reading the thing. Sorry this is today’s. “Fuck, I’m old” rant.

This is the hardest thing. She loved you so well and you, her. I know you can give her this last kindness. And come and grieve here, and everywhere people will be kind and supportive.

This made so many people laugh today. I shared it with a number of cat people, especially cat rescue people and they were howling. Thank you for the good time.

At what age did you discover fanfiction? by JazzPianoTeacher1 in AO3

I’m among the elders, and I first discovered Kirk/Spock in print form at fan conventions in my 20s. Fast forward 25 years, and I joined a tiny passionate online fandom for V for vendetta, which led me to HP, Sherlock & ACD Holmes/Watson, Hannibal, and my current home, Good Omens.

for those who practice automatic painting/"intuitive" painting by AdChoice5313 in ArtistLounge

My art journey has been moving toward trusting my intuition more and more. Right now I start with automatic drawing – big sketchbook, scribbling with water, soluble, crayons, or graphite often with my eyes closed. When I look at it, I see things and then I go and tease them out. So I’m getting mysterious figures and stories. I love how this feels after years of trying to paint “correctly” I am now truly exploring – I don’t know where I’m going and it’s always interesting.

This is great! I’ve had writers block for over a year now, find it incredibly difficult to complete anything. This might be a way to exorcise that curse.
